I’m trying to figure out why the black top cap was popped up and spinning on my son’s S550. No “P” codes, no performance problems, nothing amiss. So it’s more of a detailed question about the part itself, which is relatively cheap and easy to replace now that I/we know what it is.
Found it thanks to Levittown Ford online parts catalog. Back to why I want to know what it is/does, my son’s black cap was popped up. The black cap does seem to spin like a volume control knob.

It’s on the back of my S650 GT and on my son’s S550 GT as well. Both are 6 speed manuals (Getrag) in case that matters. I’m asking because the black cap was popped up on my son’s. He’s since pushed it back down.
If this is your first oil change, it's without a doubt semi-synth. Possibly with a mysterious additive to keep the typewrite/BBQ tick at bay. So look out for that upon start up.
Also, if you plan on doing it yourself, there's a not so fun belly pan you may have to remove (unless they finally...
Pennzoil Platinum or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum (PUP), which are different? Assuming PUP, the old "SP" stuff was GTL (made from natural gas), the new "SQ" doesn't state it specifically, so it could be a different animal all together. I use PUP in our 0w-20 vehicles (as Mopar Oil is hard to find)...
This is the part I’m questioning. Is it the vehicle or the chemistry that’s compatible. I read it that if a vehicle calls for SP, it can take SQ as well. Not that the two specs can be mixed in large quantities.
My other vehicles take 0w-20. For those applications I’m using PUP. The new SQ has...
Bought a couple of cases today and am wondering if the oil is compatible with SP. I’m not wondering if it is compatible in the engine, but can leftover SP oil be mixed in with SQ as I have a couple of quarts left over.
Same, my late 2023 build doesn’t have it either. Therefore, I had to pay gas guzzler tax. This “feature” was added January 2024. Our older cars are considered “Job 1” builds.
So how about that Lucid Sapphire or Tesla Plaid? Maybe, just maybe, some people actually like a third pedal and don't care about being the fastest or quickest around. And maybe, some people like the old school visceral experience without having a subwoofer make exhaust sounds.
Well I have a MT82 with 3:55 and maybe I'm an old man but this car is pretty far from boring especially in Sport Mode with the windows open and the sound of the Roush axle backs.
My 1974 Mustang II with 4 cylinder and 4 speed, was closer to what I'd call boring.
I'm thankful that I have this...
Supercharged Predator crate engine used to be $25,000, Tremec DCT is around $9,000. So parts alone are nearing $40,000. I can't image the cost of a shoehorn to make it all fit and work in a S650.
Ok, interesting. I take it you went with the quad tips. Also, did you have to get the bracket that retains the motors so the computer doesn't throw codes?
I didn't have the active exhaust, but did add the dual tip Roush. I am curious of how much louder it would be with a resonator delete. I...
