Has anyone like AED ever dynoed a Coyote with 8, 9, 10, 11 quarts of oil to see what the difference is? Old drag racer trick to run a little less oil because depending on the engine it can make more power.
Bro.
OP never asked a question. He was just sharing an experience.
You're saying the same thing over and over. I'm just questioning the accuracy of the OLM. Is there data to back it up for his car and his oil? I'm just saying not to blindly follow it as I don't agree with how long they want...
But did he do an oil analysis (or whatever people want to use) to truly judge the condition of the oil?
The car doesn't know what oil is in it and what the actual condition of it is. It's just making an educated guess based on what some engineers put in the tables for the calculation.
Is the...
The car still doesn't really know the condition of the oil. It's just guessing. The same use with one oil isn't going to be in the same condition as the exact same use with another oil.
I know that - they suggest track use intervals in the manual. I'd rather go by that, than the OLM is what...
Interesting. I'd still rather go by time or miles since the car has no idea what the condition of the oil actually is or what oil is in it as it treats generic 5-20 and high dollar 20-50 the same.
I also wonder why the manual specifies an interval for track use instead of just sticking with the OLM
If I go to the dealer quick change I watch the guy take the big old measuring cup looking thing over to the 'wall of oil', which is a bunch of cardboard bulk packs in various weights, fill it with the oil they are using, then they come over to the car and dump it in
Did you read the part where the Mustang was either modded or the Corvette owner couldn't drive?
The Z06 is quicker than the GT500...It's a ten second car from the factory.
Those roll racing events are stupid.
1. Your oil pressure gauge isn't a real gauge (edit: mixed this up with the previous cars where it could be a pressure switch and not pressure sensor)
2. 100psi is normal at cold start
3. No need to wait. Start it and go
That is an insane amount and I question if it's even connected properly, you really shouldn't see any more than a tablespoon or two in a couple thousand miles
Your engine would not be sucking in that much oil under normal circumstances
