Along with the windshield wiper fluid tank, the ECU does live in that area. It would likely see significantly more moisture without that cover if you drive in wet conditions.

I like the RTR stuff as I have a lot of their stuff on my car. However; the Darkhorse is a factory Ford vehicle that will retain its value better, has better options and hardware installed. If for the same price, definitely go with the Darkhorse.
