When you use the remote display, the V1 itself runs in dark mode; meaning that there is nothing displayed on it's screen.
Additionally, since my Dark Horse is a 6 speed manual, my hand is typically near the shifter so having a mute button on the remote display in this location is a convenience...

Blendmount for the V1, wiring follows the headliner to the passenger side pillar, then down to the fuse box. V1 hardwire power socket is located there. Then the wiring for the remote...

I ordered the Air Design one as well, but then found one on BlueOval that is supposed to be a genuine Ford part with the Dark Horse badge already attached.
Needless to say, the Air Design one is still new in the box.
