For drag and street driving with my Whipple, I ordered some Nitto nt05’s, should I have went with nt555RII’s? They didn’t come in my stock size. Thr NT’s are for road racing how well do they work for drag racing?
Stock size is 8.5x19.

NT-05R or just the regular NT-05?

i had them and didn't like them as much as the RII's for drag racing, they were supposed to be a track tire but not as good as the NT01

I thought about the R2‘s. They were for drag racing, but they didn’t have the stock size that would 8 1/5 inch rim so I had to go to the NT101.

Eh… let us know, I’d expect them to be worse than stock for grip as far as drag racing.

there isn’t a combo tire, what works for RR is a much different design than DR, different compounds and stability

the closest “compromise” tire would be Toyo R888R
More of a road racing tire but soft enough to hold power.

here’s a pick of my 555R2s I use in stock wheels
275/40/19, they hold decent on 800 plus wheel, but it will still get sideways 70-80mph in cooler weather

That car is awesome stance. What size are those wheels and tires and I love that spoiler!
Wish me luck on the NT 01’s on the street. The stock contis are so dangerous!🫨😳

Stock Ford night pony wheels 19x8.5 square.

6mm slip on spacers, bottom pic is 25mm bolt in spacers.

Looks like your picture didn’t go through
I went with the NT05 since the nt01 were a road race tire. The 05 still have a 200 treadwear rating so it’s a lot sticker. It makes a big difference quite a bit more grip on acceleration. The thing is when they spin. They spin more quiet than the continental do so you still gotta feel if the ass end is movingaround or not. Oh well save up for those 11 inch rims and 315 tires and oh yeah the axles first!
By the way, does anybody know what’s the smallest diameter wheel you can put on the rear end I got the stock smaller size caliber if I can go to the 17 inch trim on the back I get a much taller sidewall much better for drag racing.

I have the NT555G2s, not sure if its because it doesn't get hot enough here, but they suck for me on my streets. Even on 25c+ days they're not great. Right now I have some Continental winters on the car, 255 square, and they seem to control better under abuse than the NT555G2s. I have 305's.

I've seen a few videos on bulk tire reviews, and the nittos never score very well.

Well, I know the G2‘s have a higher tread wear rating than the 05’s. I believe that is what makes the 01’s a little stickier. I’ll see how these things work overall when I wear them down then I’ll make my decision once I buy my big tire down on the road.
