From what I take in light of Farleys recent comments, we'll never see a Bulllitt, Mach 1, Cobra, Boss, Shelby GT350 or GT500 roll out of a Ford plant as long as he's holding the reins. Everything is about the Dark Horse, his personal Mustang stamp. His own words were that Shelby doesn't race (and currently they don't), Dark Horse does race (it does). That a detail that sound easily be flipped. if the powers that be wanted it that way. They obviously don't. History and nameplates that call back to the legendary days are the past, must to the chagrin of those that have carried the torch the past 60+ years. Legacy is nothing to those at the top of the glass house. Except that to those that have carried that torch and beat the Ford drum for those many years it's a spit in the eye. For those that do not know, Ford didn't win a World Championship in 1965, Shelby did. Boss 302s won the Trans Am championship. Ford got waxed at LeMans two years running and proved that money alone doesn't buy a victory. It takes that something special that Miles, and Shelby and that entire crew brought to the '66 race. But the story that came before that is even more impressive and important. It'll never be on the screen, sadly. So, all of the experts who think they learned everything there is to know by watching Ford V Ferrari, be content with thinking you know the history that's being left behind. But the Cobra Ferrari Wars is much better, there's just no Ford GTs (the British tagged them Ford GT40s), only Cobra roadsters, Daytona Coupes (all 6 of them) and a bunch of smart, hard working hot rodders who knew what it took to go fast, earn respect and truly take on the world and win. These guys today...don't.

That's why a lot of us got heated/vocal about the current crop of vehicles on offer from Shelby American recently. We remember what ingenuity, grit, passion and outside the box thinking got those folks back in the day. It's a different world now...

Wonder who at Shelby pissed off someone at Ford and what was it over?

NOT Wrong. I saw that interview. There is a thing called etiquette and prudence neither of which Chris demonstrated at that time.

You don't get invited to a FORD debut and then think you can infer about the competition especially when it doesn't relate. This was a DH SC reveal which has nothing to do with the ZR1. Chris made an opportunistic move, and I get that, but it was also bad form. Farley responded the way he did because he was perturbed by the question.

Chris was invited to a DH SC reveal and to inquire all about that subject matter. It just wasn't the proper forum to discuss anything else and Farley was clearly put off by that. When you ask an off the wall question you are going to get an off the wall answer.
If Farley was perturbed by the question, he most definitely should not have been, when he himself commented on GM’s post when the Corvette beat the GTD Ring times with “game on” and then we saw a Whippled GTD being tested at the ring shortly after. That was months before the DH SC reveal.

Although the majority of us don’t think so, he himself thinks the GTD is a corvette competitor. He was not pressured into offering that answer. That’s what he believes.

Chris was 100% within his rights to ask that question too. All the invitees knew was that it was a new Mustang reveal. And there was tons of buzz and articles about it being a “corvette killer”. So this was a logical question to ask after the reveal turned out to be something that doesn’t really fit that. Like another poster mentioned it’s also common for people to ask about how a product stacks up against the competition at a new product reveal.

This doesn’t take away from the fact that the DH SC will likely be a fantastic car. But there is clearly a demographic that Farley doesn’t care about making cars for. I think it’s both sad and risky for him to do that. We’ll see how it works out in time

power wise i expect it to be the same or possibly more than the GTD, that's not what made the GTD stand out (hell my supercharged 5.0 is only a few HP shy of it). One interesting thing about this car that stands out to me is the tires. From what i could see in the photos and press releases i dont think this one is any wider (at least in the rear) than the lower models. Its got 315 rears which ive had for over a year now with similar fitment to these photos.

not exact angle but you get the idea, i cant really comment on the fronts because i have non-standard fenders.
Wheels are 11.5"

still not a huge fan of the front, and worst of all the nameplate. I'm going to hold off to see what type of variant Shelby American makes out of this (e.g. GT500)
I agree, and I think it’s the plastic grill inlets/openings. If they would have went gloss black or used the same material from the S550 GT500 it would’ve looked more premium.

Watching videos on YouTube last night, I saw one state that Ford claims a 60% increase in airflow due to the redesigned front.

That is a significant improvement for cooling capacity.

I do not think they were referring to the prior generation at all. They were referring to modifications to the current "grill." Apparently they moved it, not just opened it, and increased the airflow. The narrator on the video attributed the increase to moving the grill.

I do not know the comparison to the GT500.

But I would love to get that extra airflow for cooling on track.

I'm thankful that we have a "car guy" running a car company. Do you think we would have these performance cars with a "bean counter" in charge?
Even if he seems clueless?

The guy that said this?

“My daughter’s boyfriend is one of these people. He bought a brand new F-150, he’s got a supercharger on it. He recently got a bunch of error codes because he updated the ECU against Ford’s standards, and now he needs thousands of dollars of expensive repairs because the vehicle has started chewing its camshaft. It was great that he could get 650 horsepower out of his EcoBoost F-150. He didn’t think about what he was doing to the reliability of the vehicle, but we have to at Ford.”

You want to pay 200K+ for the same car?

I have a feeling we are all going to be disappointed with the price they set the SC at. I'm interested in the CFTP but it's pretty wild how the mustang price has jumped since the GT350/GT500 have come out...which a lot of these cars are inheriting parts off of.

That’s great, but it’s in reference to the regular Dark Horse that is naturally aspirated. That would be a little more eye opening if it was being compared to the last gen GT500.
