That's more of a Florida thing. The only way to avoid it is to have the vehicle shipped home.For many years buyers of expensive RVs registered them in Montana to avoid very expensive fees in their home states. I was honest and bought an RV in Fla. I was charged 4% sales tax on $125K. When I got home to Georgia and went to register it I found out the 4% never leaves Fla and I had to pay an additional 7% sales tax. So 11% tax came out of my pocket! Learned never to buy out of state.
I don't think it's an issue with Iowa.
