Impulse Buy - FP Sport/Extreme Active Axleback by Borla

I decided to take advantage of the 25% off promo on Ford parts/accessories and picked up a set of Ford Performance Sport Axleback Active Mufflers this week. I’m interested to see how these pair with my recently installed Lethal Performance Resonated Double-H Pipe resonator delete.

I’ve seen lots of info/videos for S550 models with the Ford Performance Sport mufflers by Borla, but haven’t seen a lot for S650 models - and actually haven’t came across any of the active variant. I’m hoping it’s a little louder than the current setup.

If anyone has experience with these, feel free to let me know what to expect .

Looking at the Ford site, I couldn’t figure out how there could be a near $1300 difference between the Sport and Extreme muffler axleback……

I ordered the same thing, ford has those weird sales sometimes. Last year when i had eco i bought ford performance extreme for like 900 and sport version was 1700 so who knows

Honestly i loved fp on eco, when it comes to gt i love the sound alrdy and dont want it to be obnoxious loud. So sport axle back i think will be great. I was thinking about full cat back but it comes with x pipe and i dont like how x pipe sounds. But i like sound of h pipe. So maybe make some videos with stock axle back and h pipe and then with sport axle back. I would love to hear it. Thanks!

Nice - I agree, I was torn on doing anything with the factory active exhaust…but I just couldn’t leave it alone. The Lethal resonated HH pipe is just a little louder than stock, and maybe a little deeper/smoother tone. I’m hoping these Sport mufflers are just a bit “more”.

Hah i was also hesitant but i also can’t leave it alone. Also those tips look so much better then factory tips. Also when i saw the price i just couldn’t say no. Im sure they will be!!

Agreed - those new tips were a huge selling point. Looking forward them showing up next week (hopefully).

I have the FP extreme axle back/dark horse valance kit with steeda H pipe. I think the sound is a little louder than a Borla S-Type but definitely not like the atak. So maybe for the sport it’s close to the S-type, between the touring and s-type.

So i did finally install sport active axle back, and i think that when it comes to loudness its maybe just a little bit louder than stock active exhaust. But it also has a different tone (but also not much). All in all i think without x or h pipe borla/ford performance is close to stock active.

It took forever to get mine…actually just picked up from the dealer last week…

In the meantime, Ford had the Extreme series Axleback on sale and I picked it up (it was 3x the cost in December so they must be doing an inventory blow out or something). That came in at about the same time - within like 3d of ordering…

I’m just waiting on life and weather then plan to do the install - maybe I’ll go the Extreme route first . I didn’t intend to end up with an extra Axleback, but what can you do…

I love how it looks, i did post videos in my other post (my journal), check it out https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/kaleza’s-dark-matter-gray-gt-build-journal.173614/ . Truth to be told im kinda disappointed i expected little bit more of the tone difference or maybe more volume, this morning it even sounded quieter then stock (maybe im crazy). I guess i need x pipe now . Im rly curious to see how does extreme sound like.
