Thanks for letting me know. I am rewatching and trying to find that on the video. He keeps talking about "800 horsepower."

So is that the solution? Put on a larger pulley for track days? You can push 650 hp (150 more than my car has now, 170 more than a regular GT without active exhaust) and keep temperatures stable? I bet with a little experimentation you might be able to push a little more and still keep it stable, especially with the Dark Horse handling package cooling stuff.

So it looks like Whipple makes the pulleys in all sorts of different sizes. Stage 1 kit is 3.875" and folks looking to crank up the boost have been using 3.5", but they make 4" and even larger.

There is a 4", a 4.25", a 4.5"

It seems like this might be a solution to tracking a car with a Whipple.

And run it on E85 for extra cooling

And look into better intercoolers and pumps . . .

I know the Forced Induction Interchiller is great for drag strip and street, but they do not recommend it for track.



Anyway, I am guessing you can probably push more than 650 horsepower and keep temperatures stable with the Dark Horse cooling . . .

Man, I have new stuff to think about now . . .

Yes it’s great flexibility!

Also makes you wonder what could trickle down if Ford goes with a Whipple for the next GTD variant. Guaranteed they have to have some serious cooling for it to last on the ring consistently

How did they "detune" the vehicle down to 650 horsepower? (see 25:15 time stamp, where Misha mentions this)

Another forum member posted some pictures of a 3.75" pulley up against the Whipple supercharger and implied strongly that a larger pulley (4", 4.25", or 4.5") probably would not fit in the space remaining.

3.875" is the Stage 1 pulley size, and even that large pulley is still advertised at 810 horsepower by Whipple.

Can you give us any insight into what they did to the car to lower the horsepower to 650 and keep the temperature stable at 90° Celsius on the track?

Straight from Whipple. So this would still be 10 psi and a lot more than 650 horsepower, at least at the engine (and Misha was not clear about whether this was engine or wheel horsepower). I am not sure how much cooler 10psi would be on a track circuit.

So what did they do to the RTR car to get (a) 650 hp, and (b) the resulting stable temperature on the track circuit?
