The chip in my windshield is not repairable. I will only have it done at the dealership cause I want the OEM windshield with all the logos. Has anyone changed theirs? What did it cost? Does Ford offer warranty on their work?

To my knowledge, most if not all Ford Service Depts. "subcontract" windshield replacements out. I suppose who Ford Service uses depends on the locality. I agree on OEM exact replacement.

Tips -
1. Avoid mobile repair regardless of who is performing the work.
2. Indoor repair is best.
3. Avoid the vehicle glass company with this jingle " Safxxxxx repair, Safxxxxx replace".

Wish I knew in advance.....the reason why I need a replacement is because Safelite tried to repair a chip and ended up with a 2 inch lock crack.

First of all most dealers don't install windshields. They sublet it out...is your insurance paying it? Most Safelite can get OEM glass. They did by BMW M2 (2024 G87) and they used BMW glass, it still wasn't cheap it cost me near a grand. They had to calibrate the windshield with the sensors on the glass which they were able to do. Also, my deductible was $500 so I just paid out of pocket instead of making a claim. Damn Geico doesn't include it here in Los Angeles.

BTW, BMW dealers sublet it out and they wanted $1800!!!!

Damn that's crazy! My deductible is also $500 and I read that it doesn't really chnage your insurance premium unless you use it multiple times. I'm thinking if I go through Ford it'll have better warranty. I took the chip repair to Safelite and they totally messed it up. I don't want to take the replacement to another shop. Even if Ford takes it to a third party I will be dealing with Ford directly.

I actually just got mine replaced this past Monday. I got the Ford OEM windshield with logo and all. My total cost with labor and tax came out to about $790. I used a mobile service and it took them about and hour to do the whole job.

So you didn't go through Ford directly? What mobile service did you use?

windshield damage while driving is considered a non fault repair/replacement. (At least with major auto insurers).

Mine have always been classified as an “Other Than Collision” claim.

Mine was a little under $1,000 installed. Ford OEM glass, done at the dealership.

Keep in mind not all Safelites are the same. They are independently owned and operated.
