Yes, from Carmax. Should I be concerned about the Ford warranty?
Get the VIN go to your local Ford Dealer, ask NICELY for the warranty history from a service advisor, preferably not first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon. Ask them about the cars warranty status. Is it still in force.

If someone screwed with the car, and frankly nobody has been able to get into the ECM to develop any tuning Ford can and will deny warranty coverage. Even using K&N Filters can be a reason for a warranty claim to be denied.

You may even want to go ask the F&I guy if it is eligible for an extended warranty if you wanted to purchase one.

Also run the vin thru NHTSA's website looking for open recalls.

CarMAx is NOTORIOUS for selling cars with open recalls

Personally I am not a fan of the place

It had two open recalls, one (software update) has been taken care of and I have an appointment to have the second one resolved in a week or two. I'll go to the dealer tomorrow, I've bought cars from them in the past so that might be nice to me:) Thanks for your advice.

Car max usually does a significant inspection.

was it sold “as is” or with the remaining OEM warranty? IF NO MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, did you buy an extended?

it’s a catch-22 situation. If you asked ford to confirm warranty, then they may void it if they find something.

carmax has a 10 full refund return policy if you’re worried.

hopefully it’s just a pep boys type thst thought adding the plaque would impress people without actually doing anything to the car.
I like the car and would not want to return it, but not looking for a giant headache either. I can still probably buy an extended warranty for peace of mind.

its clear the car has been modified by the previous owner (those stripes arent factory). my guess is someone had a shop do some work on it and added a little show plaque for making over 500hp
That scares me somewhat. What did they do and who did it.

I opened the hood and found this...note, I'm not mechanically inclined so I don't usually go poking around engines.

Interesting it says "MOD" on it. Heck, maybe it's got some nice headers or something on it and you got an even better deal!

dynamometer. Measures horsepower and torque after parasitic losses.

Will give you real useable power numbers. Also called rear wheel horsepower.
Aaah, thank you.

@DrRaphael ..... yeah that's just a trophy shop plaque sign. Peel it off, it's just embarrassing like guys with 4 or 6 cylinder engine putting a V8 badge on their cars.
So you don't think modifications were done?

What would they really have done to the car other than air intake or headers and how would they come up with such an exact hp number?

Got pics of the rest? Multiple angles of the engine bay and then a couple underbody shots may help.

Is your car extremely loud? Maybe you have some headers on it.
It's loud with the optional exhaust system but I don't think it is louder than other GTs with the same exhaust system.
