Exhaust Tips

The personalisation of my GT continues, with the titanium black exhaust tips from Burg Design being fitted yesterday.

Burg Design refer to them as "titanium black", whereas one of their distributors, Mustang Motorsport, refer to them as "black chrome", but same same.

A very easy install. :like:

Whilst I do like the tapered lines of the OEM tips, and you do loose that with these afterrmarket tips, the titanium black tips blends in better with the rear diffuser.

This would definitely compliment a GT that already has the factory Black Pack, and chasing a dark look.

Great stuff Adam, looks good and will compliment S650's with the black pack nicely considering those tips are almost the only bit of chrome on a GT with the black pack (we get chrome lug nuts with the gloss black wheels for some silly reason)

Wasn't expecting a shout out but happy to contribute to the body of knowledge :)

Mine are getting lonely on a shelf in the garage waiting for their mate to show up - which is still on the dock in Baltimore afaik.

I'm a convert!

New to me, and first time use of CarPro Dilute measuring spray bottles.

Check your desired dilution ratio on the product bottle, fill the Dilute bottle with water to that dilution marker level, and top up with the product.

In my case I want Green Star all-purpose cleaner at the ready in a 1:10 dilution.

Fill water to the obvious marker, 1:10 in this case.

Then top up with actual product to the fill line.

Level rises slightly, once the spray head is screwed on.

Add a label.
Job done. :like:

We got a basic wash yesterday, but underneath cannot be forgotten.

I love those bottles. I'm not great with numbers, other than remembering car facts and figures, so using these is a massive help and requires no calculation at all.

Trunk Pull Down Tab

This handy item was obtained when I was in the US several months ago.

The idea is, to close your trunk boot, you pull down on the embroidered tab, which helps keep your grubby fingers and hands off the rear deck lid.

Let's get this installed!

Total install time: <20 minutes
Video production: 8+ hours

Can you explain just one more time, the step we don't need here in Australia? 🤣

Awesome job again Adam👍

The S650 got it's first detail (by me) over the weekend.

The basic process went like this:
Spray iron remover on wheels
Let dwell for a few minutes
Foam wheels with Carpro Lift
Rinse wheels

Spray wheels and tyres with brake buster
Scrub wheels and tyres with various brushes
Rinse wheels

Spray iron remover on rest of dry car - 500mL of iron remover only just made it around, and I had to forgo doing most of the windows.
Dwell for a few minutes
Foam with Lift
Rinse

Foam with Carpro Reset
Rinse

Contact wash with Mint shampoo (house brand crap from CarCareProducts I will never buy again, and wanted to use up) with MF (microfibre) wash mitt
Rinse

Blow dry with Ego 765 blower
Because of the limited hydrophobics of the new OEM finish, blow dry was, as expected, not totally effective.
Finished off drying with a Bowdens MF Big Green Sucker towel.

Bead Maker applied with two MF towels

Windows done, outsde and inside, with Stoner's Invisible Glass and waffle weave towels

Side mirrors.
I really do need to sit down and sus out these damn folding mirrors.
Note to one's self... make sure the mirrors are fully extended before starting the wash.
I'm sure they were to begin with, but...

20241020_163349_1200.jpg

20241020_163321_1200.jpg

At one stage I caught them folding in on me.
The key fob was not on my person at the time either.

Perhaps the water & shampoo tricked the capacitive touch sensors and locked the vehicle... which made the mirrors fold in?
#1stWorldProblems

The internal mirror switch only appears to have two states: deployed or retracted.
I don't know if one of those states includes auto retraction.
This is a sit down and play job, because the manual is very generic and can be vague. :lipssealed:

And to simulate shutting down/parking the vehicle, you risk the dreaded double honk!
Although I think I have this sussed... turn the vehicle off, partially open driver's side door - WAIT - for the center screen to completely shut down - THEN - get out of the vehicle.

Turning the vehicle off and getting out/shutting door straight away will definitely earn you a double honk.

I'll asking my dealer to disable the double honk when it goes in for the Piece of Mind Service", as I know this can be deactivated using ForScan.

I must say, I'm really liking the Griot's Garage Boss foam cannon!
With the metering tip inserted at the bottom of the pick-up tube, and being able to screw a product bottle directly on, is not only a time saver, but just brilliant.
All foam cannons should do this.

20241020_163030_1200.jpg

It's a shame Griot's don't ship outside of the USA, as I believe many Aussies would like to have one of these. I think you can get them in from 3rd party vendors, but they tend to become crazy expensive. :curse:

There has to be a market for an Aussie-based detailing supplier to become a Griot's distributor, surely?
D, why hasn't this happened already?!!
Nice one Adam, but nothing but the top shelf or me......cough.....

Jacking Pads

SVE jacking pads have been fitted underneath the S650 to protect the pinch welds, if/when the car is raised on a lift, or with a jack.

These are bolt-on, billet alooominum ( < US English version of aluminium :giggle:) with a black anodised finish that is poorly packaged and will most definitely float around inside the mailing satchel and be nicely marked by the time you receive them! At least they aren't in normal view.

Easy to install, and although a tight work environment under there, the vehicle does not need to be raised at all.

This is not a sponsored video.
Purchased from yet another vendor that does not ship internationally, whilst in the US. :curse:

If your vehicle is off and locked, don't jack it up!
Apparently, the rather loud alarm will go off.

Don't ask how I know this.

And the Ford Pass notifications work as well.
(I have not disabled or crippled connectivity in any way)

It was a mad rush back into the house to get my key fob and unlock the car. :giggle:
