Noticed yesterday morning upon firing my Dark Horse up, I couldn’t move Thought I forgot to release EM brake and did again, and I was still stuck. I let clutch out a little more and gassed it, and bam it took off. But, clearly unsafe and messed up, especially while in my garage.

No issues the rest of the day, until this morning and I had the same situation in my garage.

Anyone else experience this, ever??

The same exact thing happened to me once a few weeks ago. However, it only happened because I washed the car in my driveway, and then I backed it right into my garage. I had set my parking brake. I believe that the parking brake, which uses a separate electro-mechanical caliper, corroded slightly while sitting there and drying out in the garage. I now believe that if you get it wet and then apply it and then park it and it dries that way, it may hang up. At least that was my experience, so, going forward, I will be careful to ensure it's dry or that it gets actuated while it's drying.

Bingo!! In both situations, I had washed the wheels and parked the car.
I suspected it, but was surprised.
Appreciate the response.

Yeah, these rotors rust really fast. My f150 doesn't rust like these. I drive my car around the block and hit the brakes a few times after I wash it.

Had it happen, took it in for service and nothing found. Few weeks later the message "parking brake limited function" showed up then went away that was last Thursday. Scheduled service for tomorrow. The message showed up again (once) over the weekend. My issues are not related to wash jobs.

Hi all - I had something similar happen today. Hopped in the DH, released brake, put car in reverse to get out of garage and wouldn’t move. Tried to engage and re-engage, same thing. Finally got it to move after cutting car off then on, went for a drive and notice there’s a grind and shimmy on braking application. Back in garage until I can get a service appointment. Will keep everyone updated.

It’s from washing the car or washing the wheels. The EM brake rusts up fast. I either drive the car immediately, or try to dry to the best of my ability. I’m also use to it now.

Thanks for the feedback, however I hadn’t washed it in several days prior to this occurring, nor had it been driven in the rain which leads me believe it might not be a rust/corrosion issue.

If you washed then parked with the emergency brake applied this will happen. Even if to washed it weeks ago. You need to drive it enough after wash to help dry out the brakes to keep the rotors from flashing over that is caused by the high iron content.

So bizarre - never had this happen on a vehicle before. Will be researching new rotors.

Update: made appointment with Ford to check it out. Diagnosis: E-brake being engaged for several days made an indention in rotors causing the shimmy and grind upon braking.

Turned my car on this morning after it was parked after getting rained on. Hit the gas and heard a loud POP or CRACK. Car won’t move.
When I hit the gas the back left tire seems to rotate freely but the back right is stuck like chuck. Not really interested in giving it enough gas to be unstuck in case something is actually wrong.
Ford roadside has been dispatched
