Don’t break your windscreen on your Mustang!
There are none in Australia and they are on back order and expected to arrive in July.
This a failure by Ford Au to keep sufficient stock on the shelves.
There are no aftermarket alternatives and the s550 isn’t compatible with our S650 so if you smash a windscreen your car will be off the road until July.
A windscreens O’Brien dealer told me that new car manufacturers are legally obliged to have an adequate supply of windscreens as they are a safety item and if people can’t buy a windscreen then they are likely to operate the vehicle with an unsafe windscreen.

Thank you for alerting us, although a crappy situation for you, receiving a cracked windscreen to begin with.

I guess me not paying an extra premium for "genuine glass" due to a suspicion that aftermarket glass would be hard to come by, at least initially, was the right decision.

To any former S550 owners here: was there ever aftermarket windscreens available?

I wonder what other roadworthy required parts Ford AU are failing to keep on hand.
Rhetorical question... but we're all thinking it. :wait:

No it’s not my daily fortunately however it’s already 4 months late on delivery to me.
That sucks mate. Will they let you take delivery and keep driving it until the other one arrives? I guess it depends on how badly the current one is damaged. Is it still usable?

Yes there were aftermarket windshields for the S550. Safelight carries them. The most obvious way to tell them apart is that the OEM Ford replacement comes with the Ford logo hidden in the perforated tint on the front of the windshield where the rear view mirror hangs and the aftermarket ones do not have this detail.

I had a conversation with my dealer this afternoon and he agreed that the crack doesn’t impede the driver’s view (at this stage) so I can take delivery next week once the ceramic coat is finished. May be able to use some windscreen crack repair glue to prevent the crack from getting worse or at least slow it down a bit.

That's awesome that it won't delay delivery 👍
