Even though this screen shot is a JPG (which loses quality, fast) you can see how the detail in the highlights are preserved with HDR.
A Starvis 2 sensor which has a much improved Dynamic range over the previous generation Starvis sensors, along with a fast shutter speed (to prevent motion blur) are all highly desirable must have features... otherwise a dash cam is just a useless placebo. Once you have the fundamentals right, then shop on other features.
Unfortunately Blackvue have not implemented HDR in their new DR970X Plus series.
F'ing stoopid.
I have researched dashcams and have deternined my android phone based dashcam does an adiquiat job. I use the AutoBox BlackBox application and get great results. This has saved me a few times. It is free from the Google app store.
Can anyone else post photos of how they have their cameras mounted on their windshield/dashes. I'm having a hard time deciding which to buy because I don't want it to be super in my way when driving but so far I'm leaning towards the VIOFO A229 Plus.
Is there any Dashcam which also helps to park the car? I mean, with some kind of sound o vision which let us know if there is something in front of our front bumper xD
finally installed my dash cam, Viofo 229A Pro. works great, but here's a tip for anyone who gets the Viofo hardwire kit: run constant power to fuse 31 (used for RTM, Audio Control Panel, GWM, IPC), and switched to fuse 2 (used for window controls and locks). they are both 10A (red) and the only two non-double-sided 10A fuses in the BCM
