Reason why Borla would go from dual to quad exhaust tips?

Hi everyone,

I've been eyeing different types of Catback exhaust systems for my 2024 Mustang Ecoboost without the active exhaust system and was debating between Magnaflow and Borla. A few months ago Borla released their S-type but I didn't really notice much of a sound difference on their video. This week Borla released their ATAK Catback system and for some reason its a quad tip system for the ecoboost with the non active exhaust system. They also state that the customer must buy the GT rear valance due to this change.

Is there a possible reason for them to do this? Cost would be around $2.1k for both the valance and catback system before labor install charges. There is no YouTube video on their account yet for the ATAK and only for the S-Type.

Also, I've noticed all their previous Ecoboost Non-Active tips have also been dual and not quad so this is a first.

@viking805fan ...... I recommend that you listen to that system in person before purchasing it. A guy at a Mustang meet this summer had one on his 2024 GT and said it sounded loud and raspy. It did to most of us too and he said it droned at anything above 50 mph. I think you can get a "touring" version that sounds deeper or more Mustang like. I have heard so many really crappy sounding aftermarket exhausts that I would want to hear anything before I purchased it, in person. Most Mustang groups will have members with modified exhausts you can listen to. I don't know the under vehicle architecture of the ecoboost but you can alter the rear valence of the GT with a hot cutter or rotor zip tool to fit dual tips. You don't have a convertible but some aftermarket systems will not fit convertibles as they won't allow for the two frame stiffening rails that run from under the trunk to the sides of the car half way to the front.

There is a link to a template somwhere on the site to trim the rear valance for quad tips. I used it, and it was easy and looked factory.

I see. I'ma wait til Borla post a video on their exhaust on YT. They did post one for the S-Type but I didn't really like that it didn't sound to different. I do like the one Magnaflow has but I'ma wait til Borla post a video for the ATAK version of the Ecoboost.

Thanks! I'll take a look at the forum and search for it.
