I like using the weathertech cup phone holder instead of attaching something to my dash. This probably isn't what you are looking for but it doesn't hurt to consider all options.

I'm using much less the phone holder now with Sync4 (wireless android auto) and the wireless charger (your phone has to lie there...), however if you gonna buy one, buy a magnetic holder (you can place the magnet between the phone and the cover if you use one) and you'll never come back. I use a clip that pushes inside the air vents holes. Don't go cheap, there's many chinese clones that doesn't work good and you phone will fall every now and then (ask me how I know..). I am including two pics of my cup holder. If interested I can get you the particulars. I have had this cup holder for approximately 8 years and it still works great. I used it in my truck and now my Stang. It adjusts to fit almost any cup holder and adjusts to almost any angle.

You'll learn when you'll figure you couldn't hung up the current call without touching the phone (actually you could, but it's so annoying that the best option still accessing the phone...), and other things. It's not just android auto, it's even wireless android auto (Sync4) and you think.. "I'll never touch my phone again, I'll leave it recharging in the wireless dock...", but it's not the case. ;)
