Hi everyone, I need some help with my 2024 Ford Mustang GT, six-speed manual. Can someone identify what kind of extension I need for the back O2 sensors on both the passenger and driver sides of the exhaust system? Specifically, I need an extension to hook them up to my long tube headers.

This is the only issue I’m dealing with, even though the part I received says “2024 Mustang GT” on the label with the correct part number. The problem is that my back O2 sensors use a 4-wire connector, but the extension I received from Stainless Works is a 5-wire connector.

Where can I find a 4-wire connector extension compatible with my 2024 Ford Mustang GT?

Here you go, folks, in case you’re wondering which part number you need for an oxygen sensor extension on your 2024 Ford Mustang GT (six-speed manual) for the rear four-wire downstream oxygen sensor.

That’s right—most guys who install long tube headers don’t need a downstream oxygen sensor extension. But in my case, I had to have one. I didn’t have any issues with the five-wire upstream oxygen sensor—those can easily be rerouted without needing an extension. However, the rear sensor was a different story. It was too short, causing tension on the wire, and I was concerned that over time, it would rub against something and wear out prematurely.

The guys at Stainless Works are super nice and helped me out their customer service is top-notch! They sent me the correct 4 wire extension for my cars 02 sensor downstream without any extra charges. I coordinated with them because I had received several different types of extensions, and I didn’t want them to go to waste. Those are form different year coyote setup. So, I asked if they could send me a return shipping label to send them back, and they took care of it right away.

Thank you! I'm in the process of doing these and I test fitted tonight and I can get them to connect but they are stretched like guitar string tight.... You helped me out! Thank you, seriously. I was all over Amazon for like an hour and all's I could find were one's for GM but apparently that will connect correctly. Going to order these ones right now. Have a good night, props for helping out a fellow s650 owner sir!

Motorcraft sells every connector for this car as a replacement item, dig thru the Motorcraft catalog and find a male and female pigtailed connector, extend the wires yourself and you are in business.

I hope they are not too expensive, I have found recently GM pigtails are bend me over and do me dry expensive, as in $75 and up

I bet Benny @LevittownFordParts could figure it out and order them for you

  1. Go to parts.ford.com
  2. Click Shop Parts (top of webpage)
  3. Enter Location to select a dealer if it is first time visiting
  4. Click Electrical
  5. Click Wire Looms and Connectors (near bottom of webpage)
  6. Click Download Wiring Pigtail/Terminal Kits Identification Guide

The 2020 Wiring Pigtail Kits catalog has different ways to locate a connector.

Option 1: Applications

  • Used to identify a connector part number
  • Will provide connector part numbers by part name, grouped by models and separated by year ranges

Option 2: Buyer’s Guide

  • Where a specific plug may be used
  • Shows which parts and applicable models a part number is used

A visual reference of some repair connectors can also be found on parts.ford.com. Search the part number in the Enter Keyword/Part Number box. Then click the search icon.

Seeing images can help verify that the correct part is being ordered. If a connector repair is needed, always refer to Ford/Lincoln vehicle-specific repair information prior to performing the repair.
