Oil Air Separator Install

Found some time for my first mod (not counting the tint and failed puddle lamps). Installed the oil air separator kit from Ford Performance. Pretty straightforward install with a minor difference for us RHD folk with the battery cables getting in the way. Love the quality of the kit and as I expect from Ford Performance, it looks factory. Hardest part was just fiddly bolt locations and squeezing the drivers side bracket on.

So factory, that you have to know where to look in the first place, to see it!
It blends in so well.

I'm on the fence about catch cans, but where did you get this from?

I got them through Levittown Ford Parts who are a sponsor on here. They are very good and usually look after you. Postage was quick took about a week once they got the part from FP.

I reckon you can't go wrong with catch cans. I had one on my s550 and whilst it didn't get heaps it's always better knowing it's not going back into the intake.

Whilst I think the double Ford kit is probably overkill I cant go past the factory fit and look.

Thanks for the link. I had the FP separator on my S550 and wanted one for the S650 as well, but no one is carrying it locally.

Catch can is one universal thing that everyone should have. It don't make you go faster and it doesn't make people go ooh ah when you open the hood but it's a real actual beneficial value to your car

I have downloaded the instructions off Ford Performance online shop, got the part number and been searching the internet for best price just haven't pulled the trigger yet. M-6766-A50D 2024 Mustang 5.0L Oil / Air Separator.

Was about to but decided to reach out to Herrod as they are the Australian Ford Performance distributor. At the moment, they only have the previous gen oil separators on the website, but apparently the S650 versions have been ordered.

No import duties if the items value is less than 1000aud. I shouldn't be able to do it myself for less but for most stuff I can... I got the handling package camber plates in cheaper than anyone local will sell them too.

The import duty thing was more of a warning in case you end up adding a few things to make the shipping worthwhile. Buy the time its currency converted, the price would easily trip over the $1000 threshold. Stupid country we live in.

I was actually looking to buy the Roush air filter kit, by the time shipping and currency converted, the price breached $1000, import duty would then apply on top of that. Totally not worth it for two air filters and two clear plastic lids. Again, this country is pathetic.

And while I'm on the rant, why is the aftermarket so bloody slow with S650 in Australia? Unless its something that transfers from S550, nothing is available for the car. There are things I would have already bought and fitted to the car, but unless you want to burn hundreds of dollars to put something in a box and send it here, its a no go. And how long do you wait? I mean, they have had more than two years to plan for this, or is there no demand?

I shouldn't say this, but Herrod being the Ford Performance distributor for Australia is useless, he only offers a handful of FP parts on his store, nor does it have anything specific to S650. Not everyone wants to slap tacky fiberglass parts at their $100,000 car, OE level stuff speaks more to me.

Yeah agreed, I've tended to do separate orders. I'll buy local where it makes sense but not a lot of people stocking stuff at this stage. Shipping only gets taxed if the value of the goods is over 1000aud, then you get import fees, customs etc. If it's under it's only tax on the goods.

I hadn't seen the roush air intake thing. I'm not sure about air filters, was looking at the Think ones.

There's a thread on here somewhere about them. Mostly the OEMs are good enough, don't want an oiled filter but like the ability to clean. I can see these filters getting pretty dirty with how exposed they are.

I think the aftermarket on the s650 as a whole is pretty slow... Don't get me started on Herrod...
