Has anyone ordered a Mustang with the Matte Clear Film from Ford yet? I'm contemplating about ordering a new Dark Horse with the Matte Clear Film but I would like to see some examples before I add it since the option is $5995. Thanks in advance!

To be completely transparent, that is a hefty price tag. Have you gotten any quotes locally, by chance?

I haven't checked to get a local quote. I'm assuming the film they put on from the factory is similar to what someone local would do with a wrap.

Possibly. I relate it the ' ceramic ' coating they offer and charge a lot for. It's like a spray coating that's pretty useless.

At least locally, someone with experience that you know will do it right the first time. I'm super hesitant with doing anything like that from dealers. I'd see if you can get a Free Quote locally.

I have it ordered, car is currently in production. They were 800 to 1900 cheaper than full car Ppf where I live. It’s a Ppg product similar to expel stealth. It also comes with a 3 yr 36k warranty.

We are doing full vehicle expel stealth on our new 2024.5 DH. In Australia the factory PPF is not an available option so we are having this installed at a third party. The job actually started today. I will post some photos in due course

$6K for full PPF is not a bad price IMO from what I’ve seen here locally. My only issue with it coming with PPF from factory is that I’m anal about paint correction before doing something like PPF. I’d want it cleaned and polished out really well before applying a film to the car.

It will also make pre-delivery inspection a little more difficult in that if there’s some paint issues, the matte PPF will hide some of that. Then it becomes your problem once you take delivery.

I think it’s cool that Ford offers the option, but those would be my concerns.

Kinda was my thought process so we got on the horn to find out how this would be done. The factory won’t do a polish to the extent that a detailer would do but it is polished and clean before install. It has to pass a paint inspection before it’s applied if any issues are found to correct them and then apply the film. I was comfortable after that. Locally full Ppf is anywhere from 6800 -8000k so it was a no brainer for me.

That’s good to know that they at least have some level of polish before they apply as well as a paint inspection.

$6k is about the average for full PPF when I priced it. Can definitely be higher depending on how far you want to go with the paint correction.
