Hi all, I notice some cable hanging a bit low and catching my toe above my dead pedal. Curious if others experience this, is this to be expected and if anyone has tucked it away successfully.
Must be it. Thanks!

1. Have you received any alerts?
2. Were you provided any info on this system?
3. If this was for your benefit the dealer should have walked you through the setup process such as they do for FordPass.
4. Odds are this if for tracking purposes only (Repo).
5. Additional concerns due to them knowing everything about your driving habits i.e., acceleration, braking, speed etc. Yes, Ford has this too but that is another story.
6. I would be concerned about nefarious activities i.e. selling your driving habits to your insurer. Remember you provided that info at purchase. I'm not implying they are doing this - Just stating it would be very easy if they chose to do so.
7. It appears they placed a very obvious decal on the windshield. Unfortunately, that would make it hard to prove they did this secretly.
8. In a nutshell , they applied a billboard stating exactly what they did. Going after the dealership would most likely be futile due the "billboard" decal.
9. If it smells fishy it's probably a fish.
10. Nobody here can say for sure exactly what's going on without all of the details to include any paperwork that may have been slipped in during your time with the Finance Manager at the dealer (Assuming you went with dealer assisted financing, whomever that may be).

This device collects way more data than what is needed to track a car for location purposes.

If it were me I would take the necessary steps to undo this. Ultimately, the choice to do so and the "how" is up to you.

I don't disagree with anything you stated here. The billboard decal however is not an out for them is they did not have you sign some paperwork acknowledging that it was present and what they are doing with the data collected from the device. I would still be furious and blasting the dealer publicly if your Data point 10 is accurate. Your 5th bullet point you can opt out of but doing so also removes some of the convenience of the Ford Pass app.

***Side note I work in cyber security with the military and devices like this make my skin crawl.***

There are a lot of unknowns here. Lenders can require a device such as this under certain circumstances and bury the disclosure within the finance documents that nobody has (or takes) the time to read and ultimately get signed.

I hope the OP figures this out.

Edit - Too many unknowns here to provide an accurate assessment.

I agree, hope that he gets it worked out. I would have walked away from a deal with that requirement though. 🤷‍♂️

My situation is no strings. Expecting paper work by mail from the company. Should be here any day according to the dealer. I went back over our discussion with them. Certainly sounds like it is useless to me at best so I will get rid of it. Thanks for all the insights!
