Glove compartment finish

On a whim I put a bit of WD 40 on a paper towel and cleaned it. That was last week and it still looks good with no ileffects. I have a 2 year old range with same wife and same purses, it looks new.

Wife distance 40” written on a paper towel affixed to the door and then cleaned? Not sure that would work as well for me , seriously wd40, don’t know i’d have thought of that.

Good lord that looks horrible

My wife used to scuff up the glove box in my Grand Cherokee with her shoes. But it never looked that bad.

For what ever reason Ford changed the texture on the interior to a real fine texture. If you you hit it with anything it takes that fine texture completely off to a scratch that you can't fix. You have to be so careful now getting in and out of the car. I tell everyone don't hit your feet on any of these parts. Everyone thinks I'm crazy!

Whatever Ford is using my 2024 VW Atlas is using the same material because the wife's feedbag sized purse was scuffing up that one as well. Since it's her car I can't control the placement of the purse...

You can fix it but it's a pretty complicated process. I've fixed it on textured bumpers. But when we get any textured parts we replace them. The R and D and or engineers that think this is fine have no idea. The materials they use is like butter you could scratch it with your finger nail.

That is one seriously wrong piece of info there... it's a simply plastic door. No knee airbag...

@Aramis76 It is not an air bag in the traditional sense. the door of the Glove box is the air bag there is a bladder in between the inner and outer walls of the airbag that causes it to separate, and the front wall of the door pops out to cushion the passengers' knees. at least that is how it worked on the S550.
