They look much easier to wash as well.

Can confirm - definitely waaaayyy easier to clean, and I can get between the front calipers and the rim without any drama.
I do seem to have moved the brake clearance issue to the rears though - the spokes are so close that I cannot even get a cloth between them, but it is only a thin section on the inside lip of the caliper that is missed.
