Absolutely hate that my first post here is to say I'm an IDIOT.

I had the genius idea of doing multiple burnouts on New Year's Eve with the neighbor shooting fireworks behind the car...okay okay the pictures and video are pretty great.

Here's where I messed up, I struggled to get the tires spinning, fairly new tires still.. Needless to say, I had about 4 failed starts with some really really bad clutch pops at high rpms. I got it down and got a good 2 burnouts in. Let me again state, I know, I'm a DA! Worse part is I know how to freaking drive a stick, but apparently not well when trying to show off under the pressure.

Needless to say, parked the car, all is good. Next day, I go out to assess the tire depth, well new tires are ordered, no biggie. Jump in and drive down to the grocery store. I noticed a pretty strong smell in the car, hint of metal, could still be burnt rubber as well. However, I did notice the clutch is softer than it was previously, and I also get a slight stutter in 1st gear pulling out. All other shifts seem to be fine. All of that leads me to believe I've done some damage to the clutch. So I do a couple tests...start in 1st on a hill, it stalls...start in 4th on flat road, it moves slightly and then stalls...cruise at 70 and floor it, RPM gains = Speed gains...and finally ran hard 1st through 3rd, don't notice much slippage, maybe slightly.

Just as precautionary I started looking around for some trans shops and what it is going to cost me for all this dumbassedness. I got in contact with a reputable shop here NE of Memphis. They suggest replacing clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder. The quoted me $1450+tax for the labor.

Here's my decision point. Do I go with the OE clutch? Lethal? McLeod? If I go performance clutch, I can purchase it and they will install it, otherwise OE they can order and install. I hope to in a few years go ahead and supercharge or even turbo if we ever get a tune, so I'm likely on the side of performance clutch since i'm having the work done anyway. Open to suggestions though. Is this a good price for install? I haven't had one done since like 2010 in a Honda Civic and the whole thing clutch and install was less than that.

Edit: On the Slave and Master Cylinder...do I just go stock or are there better options?

Thanks all and always appreciate the help this forum provides!

LOL hope those photos and videos were worth the cost of the clutch!
I think you need to share your video stupidity with the community for us to enjoy at your expense. 😉

Personally I would go OE on everything and not do any more dumb things under pressure. Haha

Tire smoke is usually cheaper than clutch smoke.

hopefully you disengaged traction control, take solace, for the most part, as long as the tires are spinning the clutch aint. It and /you will self adjust as long as it shifts you may be ok. Just start saving them nickels and dimes for future repairs if it gets worse.
