Carbon Fiber Exterior Add-ons?

I understand that Carbon Fiber is supposed to be light & strong. It also has a cool look. However, I have witnessed a simple Carbon Fiber license plate frame look like crap after 3 years. The gloss coating has yellowed and has started to peel. What's the point for exterior mods that will be subject to sun and weather?

I don't think real carbon fiber should do that. It is usually pricey.

The carbon fiber needs to be protected by "something"! Everything I have read about items for sale indicates the item is finished in "clear gloss". THAT is what is failing over time.

Always recommended to throw on a layer of clear coat or gel coat. Even after Texas/Arizona heat exposure, it should last years..
