I'm thinking of purchasing a Borla Switch fire for the GT Nite Pony I'm about to pick up. I guess you'd say I'm trying to make up my mind between the Steeda H-pipe and Borla Switch fire.

I have the Borela Switch fire plus a Whipple and it sounds awesome.

I hear they sound tinny with stock exhaust. Plus I'm not looking for loud. If I do it I may have to use small resonators to keep it beep, mellow and without dreaded drone. Plus wit all that the weight would nearly double since the Switchfires weigh more than regular H/X pipes. Then the added resonators add weight. Decisions, decisions. I have H pipes on my DH, and their way deeper and louder than those on GTs.

They sound Sweet, not raspy If you are that worried about weight. I don't know what to say. You could take out your useless rear seats and put in a delete kit. Or go to they gym the weight difference would be so little. Or go to a gym and lose 5 pounds to offset the added weight

I think the switch fire is “PEAK MARKETING GIMMICKS”

just have an H pipe if you want more volume

Nope. Stayed home listening to music for two weeks with only breakfast and dinner, lost 20 lbs. plus my Staffordshire Bull Terrier likes to roll up on the back seats. Doesn't matter much. Rem.870, Colt AR-15, and their accoutrements weigh more than switchfires and Vibrant bottle resonators anyway.

Just picked up that Borla switch fire, and it's in the trunk of Little Wifeys Mach 1. Can you think of anything better as a Birthday present for a woman? Maybe I should pick up a couple dozen 🌹 🌹, and throw in a Steeda Tri ax shifter, not to forget a buffalo steak dinner. Since she's too busy with school and I have extra time, she won't know about it until her Birthday next week. You could say her Mach 1 is my guinea pig.

Well people. I had the switch fire installed in my wife's Mach 1, along with the Steeda Triax short throw street shifter. Went through the gears in town, and opened it up on the freeway. You could say it sounds deep like an H-Pipe, and a bit raspy on top like a X-Pipe, but not bad. I'd say the thing has a split personality. Doesn't know if it an H-Pipe or an X-Pipe. I love it. But still put an H-Pipe in my GT. It's too bad a Active Valve model is not made. You can switch between the two, use a combination of bother, or one or the other. Like the switch on a Strat/Telecaster. The sound is bad ass. I've read it csn add 11 horses on the S550, and nothing on the S650. Would be nice to hear on a DH, and Dynoed. Could a Borla-S be next? I don't think she'll want the car that loud.

Your mentioning of it being a mix of the two is exactly right. I like the Switchfire. It is a nice change of tone versus others.

Click me to go to Borla

I also thoroughly enjoy the Corsa HH and we have it on sale right now. I would throw its name in the ring.
It is essentially a H midpipe with slightly deeper tone and 3" throughout.

Everyone in the household with a different resonator delete will help us distinguish who's arriving or leaving home. An HH would work nice on the other Mach 1 we have. That'll be in the future. I have to concentrate on Wife's and daughters new GT.
