Hi all,
Hope it's ok to start a new thread, apologies if not. I'm new to the Mustang world and am immersing myself in research, so as part of that wanted to draw on all the knowledge here to help guide my forced induction journey! Some context of the car use:
- Manual Dark Horse non-HP (In Australia)
- Will be a daily driver for the foreseeable future to work and some weekend roll racing events
- Am keen to keep the stock Tremec 3160 for foreseeable future; open to strengthening / swapping out down the track
- I enjoy handling and canyon roads, but it won't be a regular circuit car as I have another car more suited for that
I'm loving the car so far and the plan is to add boost, so choosing between the supercharger route vs Hellion twin turbo. I will also add a stop the hop kit and some better tyres at minimum. For my use above, the simple pros and cons that i see are:
Supercharger
- Well-established route, good low-down torque (but maybe bad for traction?), cost-effective, warranty available
Turbo
- More potential outright power if decide to down the track, more tuneable power/torque delivery, more efficient but more expensive
Plan would be to tune to say 750-850hp initially as it seems like that should be manageable with the stock engine internals and Tremec? I'm leaning towards the turbo route as I should be able to achieve this on low boost but then the option to ramp things up to >1000hp down the track if I want to get more competitive in roll racing etc is there if I add fuelling / boost, at which point I imagine I'd have to build the engine and do a Magnum swap.
Interested to hear people's thoughts or if I'm way off the mark with anything!
Cheers
