Active exhaust is the one thing you'll need if you go aftermarket exhaust parts.I have a base GT with active exhaust and 6 speed. Great choice for me. Added a few things, looks and drives great. Buying a base car allows me to add on where I want.
I'm a retired LEO and in our small, rural retirement area I would probably get a break from any LEO if stopped, but I like to avoid that situation. Friends make fun of me because I drive my '25 GT with a 6 speed manual within or very close to the speed limit. I'm 75 and only my wife knows when I let the ponies run on a straight, lonely stretch of road, blasting Beach Boys car songs! Have you priced tires recently? Just a set of Coopers for my run around Ford Escape was over $1000 OTD.$56?? American on top of any GT your heart desires. And it comes with lots of performance stuff. Even a pretty little tow hook worth about $200 that you most likely will never use. I had all the items written down but threw them out. I've already moved on from Mustangs. But my Husband still has one, which I just have him the other day. You could say I got pulled over three days in a row on my way to go On-Duty at the Department I work. Wasn't going fast either. Cop seen I was in uniform and basically said, Oh, have a nice and safe day. Then got back into his Explorer. Mustang drivers do have horrible reputations here.
I sold my GT and got a V Blackwing Jr. Too much negative attention from people I don't want attention from. Then there's my fellow LEO. My husband is also LEO and a Corporal. He also noticed it and got a V Blackwing Sr. Now we're like normal citizens in our cars. But his is a monster. Most my family are LEO.I'm a retired LEO and in our small, rural retirement area I would probably get a break from any LEO if stopped, but I like to avoid that situation. How in the world does the one have the Performance Package WITHOUT the active exhaust? Are you sure that is accurate?Would like to here some opinions on the two cars I'm currently considering -
First is a '24 gt with performance pkg but with passive exhaust - 14k miles $ 48k being sold as certified preowned by ford dealer. second is a gt base 6 speed with active exhaust - 200 miles - 43k being sold as certified preowned by same ford dealer.
I have no problem with the standard 6 speed since I grew up driving several. My concern with the auto is the passive exhaust. I know I can change out the exhaust, but would like
the option of quiet mode the the active exhaust provides in order to stay cool with the neighbors.
I've driven the 6 speed, but haven't had a chance to test drive the auto.
Let me know what you guys think- thanks!
