2024 CV boot puked all its grease

My brand new 2024 Mustang GT with 400 miles has a bad leak in the CV boot. My local dealer has ordered a complete drivers side assembly today. Should be here in a few days. When I first noticed it I wiped it all off thinking it was sloppy Assembly work. Then took it for a 20 mile drive and put it back on my 4 post lift and the photos show that more grease came out.

damn. sorry to see that. Get the stealership appointment now, it will be a bit until you get in. The good news is it’s not a terribly hard repair, just a little time consuming. At least they don’t have to run down a network problem.

Fortunately, I have known the service adviser for 20 years. He had 92 work orders he is working on, but said he will call me next week to get the job done. I will update this thread with a copy of the service invoice when it is done. I am not driving the car until it is fixed. Driving my 2009 Shelby for some fun seat time until then.

thats odd. i see that a lot with the front half shafts on 2020-2024 Explorers with AWD (especially STs), but i've never seen it with a Mustang

If you do a Google search you will find some. In fact on this site in May 2024 a new Dark Horse with 300 miles had the same problem.

My new drivers side trans axle arrived today. Monday morning at 8am a Senior Master Tech at the dealership will install it.

Dropped the GT off at the dealership to replace the left rear axle shaft and hardware at 7:30am and got the call at 10:30am that the work was completed. Here's the invoice showing the parts list. Very Happy !

Last week I had my rear tire off and took a look at the work Ford did to replace the drivers side trans axle and noticed they broke the Zip Tie clip that holds the electronic parking brake wire. I took the clip off and took it into the dealer and they do not sell it because it comes with the entire brake wire harness already attached. They offered to order a new harness or suggested I buy one aftermarket. Went to 3 auto part stores and had no luck finding one. Amazon sells a package of 60 of them with 6 sizes included for $11 bucks. They arrived today and 1 of sizes fits perfectly do I fixed it myself as they suggested. The photo shows the white broken tie clip and the new one. The hole the tie clip goes into is milled into the brake housing by the factory.

I'm a bit surprised the OEM tie is white instead of a material containing carbon black for UV longevity (small amounts of sunlight do get to that location) But maybe the newer materials, albeit white) can handle the elements better than they used to.
