When the S650 was announced with that hideous dashboard I was already beyond happy that I had ordered a 2022 CS. Not that this 2024 CS is out I am actually ecstatic that I did.
Apparently this is not the case. Larry Holt of Multimatic was quoted saying this in a new article on the Road & Track website today:
“There’s going to be confusion… People will think that the GT3 race car is homologated off this road car [the GTD]. But that can’t be. The race car has been...
For those who are already dreaming about a body kit to mimic this thing on a bread and butter GT, don't forget that 777 Performance already teased these renders last year November after Ford Perfomance dropped the infamous video that showed all the different S650 race versions, including the GT3:
Exactly. And I find it utterly flabbergasting that noone at Ford Europe who was in the loop for this project warned their US colleagues about the fact that they had chosen a stupid name with a large DIESEL connotation. Seriously, every media outlet all over Europe that reports about this car...
I saw the yellow GT in Belgium as well in real life and I can confirm that the color difference between the hood and the front bumper was massive. At the time I thought is was just due to it being a prototype that had perhaps been through a manual partial respray.
My guess would be that it has...
I don't mind screens as such (I actually have the digital cluster retrofitted in my 2016), but what I do mind is sticking them on like tablets on what is now a totally generic dashboard and doing away with the whole Mustang dashboard styling. The new larger second screen could have easily been...
The export models will most likely be castrated like before with taller gears and gas particle filters, because of the stricter emission regulations in our markets.
I don't mind change at all, as long as it's improvement. Changing things for the worse I do mind.
I would not qualify that as the same location. The cluster is on top of the ip panel instead of in it, the second screen is no longer in the middle, at a very different hight and it is angled...
Excellent report. I usually don't like to politicize things, but I support the standpoint that car manufacturers are endangering the general public with these developments and that it is high time for government intervention.
Interesting tidbit from their press release:
"The Saleen designed tonneau cover with dual hoop, carbon fibre, style bar that debuted on the SA-40 model, will also be available for upcoming convertible models."
The SA-40 is based off the 2023 Mustang Convertible. So if the tonneau cover that...
I agree. People tend to oversimplify what is required to add just one other cluster layout. It's actually quite a bit of work and like with any company nowadays IT resources are limited and 'just for fun' projects go to the bottom of the priority list.
That being said it would be interesting to...
I'm just glad to see more people are coming around to the fact that S650 is basically a glorified S550 refresh. And mind you I totally understand why Ford went this route, the market is shrinking and times are uncertain at best. So from a business point of view this was probably the only way to...
