Yeah, I had assumed that the cost would be passed on, otherwise there isn't any profit in it for them and it all becomes a bit pointless from a Ford AU perspective.
I would go as far as saying your worst case is the most likely outcome. Worst case would be they cancel the current planned import...
I'm sure the Ford V8 will survive in the US because they are able to offset the emissions with a broader range of electric and hybrid vehicles. In Australia they only have Ranger and Mustang. Both are well over the CO2 levels government is targeting for Jan 1 2025 introduction.
This means Ford...
A lot of Mach 1s on Car Sales are still quite expensive though. It will be interesting to see what happens to their prices once the S650 pricing is out but I suspect that they will not be any cheaper than a new DH. I am regretting not pulling the trigger on one that was in the mid-90s earlier...
Interesting that manual DHs are less than 1/2 the total orders. I would have thought that the manual trans would be a significant reason for folks to get a DH. Even for the collectors I would think that a manual would be more desirable.
So much for the rumours we were getting 1000 Dark Horse in country ...
Although that also explains why dealers are only get allocated 4-6 rather than the 7 average that was previously quoted as well.
A 2nd hand Mach 1 is looking better as I think I will miss out on initial allocation of DH...
I find it interesting that the Australian sites are all reviewing the Dark Horse when it is already well oversubscribed and anyone that doesn't have their name down already isn't going to get one.
One of the interviews on the new engine indicated it was designed specifically for the new emission controls and that was one factor that pushed them down the dual throttle bodies path.

It is definitely getting more like a fighter jet now!

I am also looking forward to the drone footage of a whole bunch of parked F-35s
Dealers were asked to submit their orders to Ford Australia in January. Some of those who were in early have received confirmation of allocation but don't have a build date yet.
Those that have received confirmation seem to be pretty close to their dealers so I suspect some dealers have...
Newcastle.
Noting folks have been getting allocation confirmation emails from Ford Australia I was hoping to find out sooner than that but I suspect my dealer is waiting for price confirmation before passing on allocation details.
I ordered an Ember Blue Dark Horse w/ appearance pack and Recaros.
Had my deposit down since August but am 10th in the queue at my dealer so not confident I will get one.
Interesting that you say you are seeing fewer on the road now because that was the biggest thing I have noticed on my recent work trip to Texas. I used to see Mustangs everywhere, but I saw a total of maybe 4 this time, only one being the Gen 6.
I saw more Porsche 911s than Mustangs ... maybe...
I get the feeling Ford are not confident in their supply chain and are preparing for a constrained production run due to continuing issues. If we take the numbers @Blueberrystang2000 quoted that they were going to get as the average, that would give 75,000 ish across the US for the 18 months...
I haven't used the BMW system myself but after being on a road trip with a colleague in his X3 and having watched him navigate the BMW system using the iDrive controller I was impressed. I am disappointed they are getting rid of them as I thought it was one of the best implementations I had seen.
