I think the “angle” isn’t just from different front & rear tire diameters. It’s from the camera in the windshield looking down at the road. So, square setup still has an angle.

I use a white towel & place it over the hood latch on the grill, blocking it from the hood pin. Then I gently lower the hood down onto it. It won’t close completely & I see the towel hanging out of the grill to remind me to disconnect.
