  1. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

You should really buy a motorcycle if you are all about straight line acceleration. They produce a lot more acceleration than a car. Plus they are relatively cheap. If I were really into acceleration as a high priority I'd still own one. Even slow motorcycles like my old Vulcan 1500 will...
  2. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

The thing about the future is it's never quite here. It's out of reach. Please go ahead and tell me when the future actually is here. There's nothing wrong with wanting an electric car. I don't, but there's nothing wrong with it. I won't street race, but I'd love to see a Mach E on the...
  3. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

I hope for people like you that whatever hybrid or EV "Mustang" eventually comes out is good looking and you enjoy driving it. I won't probably buy one. IMO the entire reason for the shape of the Mustang is that you have a big V8 engine in the front. It won't be the same with a bunch of...
  4. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

I really hope a lot of these stories consist of just floating thoughts out to the market to get feedback rather than ironclad "plans". I bet that Ford can be quite flexible when it comes to accommodating the market and changing plans if need be. Hopefully this next gen S650 will be here soon...
  5. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

They perform on par? That doesn't sound right to me. The GT350 has significantly more power and I think the cup 2 tires (180 UTQG) are pretty equivalent to the Eagle F1 Supercar tires (220). The pilot super sports were 300s - a lot less sticky than the other two. There may be some...
  6. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

You lost me when you said that the GT350 and SS 1LE should cost the same. Maybe I misunderstood, but don't even try to say the engine in the SS 1LE is anywhere near equivalent to a Voodoo and that they should cost the same. And I'm pretty sure the two cars weigh about 15 pounds different than...
  7. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

Cool inside info, thanks. What I mean is that Challenger and Mustang are riding on what all the pros say are crappy old platforms, but they still do well against their competitors in performance tests and sales.
  8. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

That kind of backs up my assumption that these platforms don't mean too much as far as the performance and competitiveness of the car goes.
  9. Mustang S650 Design Previewed by ‘Progressive Energy In Strength’ Sculpture

I have trouble separating the "artist's license" or what I think of as "cartoon" from the real hints of what the car might look like. My assumption is the S650 won't have mail slot side windows even worse than the current Camaro. I doubt the rear glass will have such a steep angle. The grill...
  10. Rumor [Autocar]: 2023 Mustang will be AWD Hybrid V8 (in Europe Only)

I believe that those cars were heavier than necessary and most of the companies involved have since made faster cars using the ICE only. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Plus, raw speed isn't the only consideration and isn't even the most important thing. A car that is fun to drive is the most...
  11. Rumor [Autocar]: 2023 Mustang will be AWD Hybrid V8 (in Europe Only)

Sorry I did read it, but I was just complaining about the direction. In my opinion it's not progress and it's not good. I feel like we are in a similar situation to 1970 where future models will not be as good as what we have now. I do think hybrid is nice for those who want one or if your...
  12. Rumor [Autocar]: 2023 Mustang will be AWD Hybrid V8 (in Europe Only)

I think AWD could be fun and I'd like to see Ford continue to do that in the Focus RS or better yet a Fiesta with AWD and more than 200 hp. To me AWD is for blasting around at lower speeds in low traction settings. And it fits in a small car (or an SUV in some cases). But I would like the...
  13. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

That looks good - like an evolution of the current styling.
  14. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

Unless the lighter weight is done by making the car less of a huge barge. These cars are significantly bigger than I would prefer. I disagree with your "ship sailing" comment as well. Cars can become more simple again. And the manufacturers can sell a lot more cars if those cars can be...
  15. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

I would be interested in reading about it, but I wouldn't buy it unless there were no other options (including just keeping my current car, buying used or building something). I would really prefer the Mustang to stay as simple as possible so I can continue to afford to buy newer vehicles...
  16. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Good point. The engineers always start from current knowledge and try to make improvements. Every single dimension might be changed, but it's still based on previous designs.
  17. S650 cancelled?

I remember owning 210 HP Mustang GTs and thinking they were fast back in the day, so maybe I shouldn't talk too much about boat anchors. I just have always felt that all the additional complexity of the 4.6 could/should have been utilized better. I did feel the same way about the...
  18. S650 cancelled?

Some of the 4.6 engines are ok and yes some can handle boost. I stand by my characterization of many Ford builds of the 4.6 as boat anchors though. Many, many 4.6 engines made less HP than the 3.7 V6 does. You can feel free to love a 215 hp 4.6 liter engine and I will continue to call it a...
