VMS are always trouble for direct access stuff like this try passing the whole USB controller you have the obd adapter through.

about the same to maintain if anything the metallic may hide some imperfections
but metallic is much harder to paint match hard to get the density of the sparkles just right

Both should not have a major issues.
Just tell your dealer not to detail it that's were the most damage gets done most times.
And you or your detailer can wash it correctly.
But yeah just get the color you like more
