It'd be nice if Ford would be transparent with things like weight earlier in the process. This certification was signed months ago but kept under wraps. Ok, next time around there'll be multiple filings and much earlier than this time. Everybody knew this car wasn't going to be a lightweight so...
For context, the certified GT500 curb weights from Ford to the EPA were:
CFTP 4,142 lbs
Base 4,204 lbs
From the 2022 Ford filing with the EPA...
Fair to say the DH carbon SC is ~50 lbs less than the CFTP GT500 and the base GT500 is ~50lbs less than the base DH SC.
While the SC convertible shares the same engine test group number with the EPA, you won't see Ford doing a separate cert for it beyond fuel economy. You may see the weight pop up at the NHTSA site via crash testing data but short of that you're gonna have to wait for Ford to list it.
For whatever reason, Ford is sometimes reluctant to release data until they absolutely have to. I enjoyed forcing their hand with the GTD by digging it up via the EPA application when they didn't want the vehicle weight to be released for as long as possible. Seems they chose to do it again with...
Yeah, I read what you wrote and what you linked and it didn't make sense. I guessed that maybe you meant something else and now it looks like you did.
Again, given the context of GTD and now DH SC pricing, I wouldn't expect a street legal Mustang with s 5.4 variant to be priced for the masses...
Ford is being sneaky by filing to withhold the EPA cert up until the first sale/delivery is made. There is a form they can fill out to protect their interest but if somebody files a FOIA request they have to spill the beans and have to fess up. The vehicle weight is buried in the filing...
I don't think it is intended to be less than a DH SC. I can see between a Base DH SC and a DH SC TP. In other words, under 140k but more than 100k. That's if production is an extremely low number.
CAFE standards are now toothless. Automakers can produce as many of these as they want without CAFE penalties.

Ford already tests/tweaks/develops/manufactures accessories with a given engine package anyway. And we all win from that development. But you're right, if the scale in terms of sales for this 5.4 package is low, the cost only goes up. How high will be too high?
The DH SC vs the GT500...
