I'm very interested...but not in buying one. I'm just curious to see what they do, if anything, to stiffen up a convertible with that much added power. I am half considering a supercharger for my convertible but wonder if that's such a good idea since the tower brace has to go in the dumpster.
The entire process appears to be almost random, but I get the realities of manufacturing. I've been in automotive for nearly 40 years.
In my case, I ordered late February, got an immediate confirmation email, then a few weeks ago an email saying it was scheduled week of 5/6. I didn't hit...
The design & development timeline is much longer than you might imagine for some of those things. It also involves thousands of people up and down the supply chain. Ford does some but not all of the design work, some but not all of the prototyping and testing, and very little of the component...
The GT manual PP Convertible I expect ina month or so will be my 5th Mustang. Ford owes me nothing but I am not going to feel bad about being disappointed in what they've offered in the new California Special and now this anniversary edition. Ford is free to offer anything or nothing that I...
I think car makers prefer automatics, partly because it's easier to get fuel efficiency and drivesbility dialed in when you can control both the engine and transmission together. People prefer to buy them for many different reasons. I don't think "it's faster" is very high on either side's...
Those are all real, easily measured differences. The question is the claim of "revised chassis tuning"...which could be said about any model compared to another. It translates to "it's different". Different springs, different sway bars, but what exactly is "tuned different"?...the Magneride...
I've had 3 BMWs and used to consider some of their designs almost timeless. I actually like the recent 4 series but I understand why some are appalled by it.
The latest 2 series however...let's just say I understand why you didn't include a front view.
The 2017 440 convertible I have now is...
Door buttons are 3 memory settings that you may or may not choose to link to a fob.
But for my F150 and my wife's Lincoln, memory 3 on the door is for working/resting/eat/nap?/other when you pullover or park but leave the vehicle running because it's really cold or really hot.
If I stop to do...
Yes, you are the expert on what I was thinking when I purchased the car I did and deciding how to go about purchasing it. My apologies for doubting your expertise. My tiny American brain is not very good sometimes.
BMW called it "tourist delivery" when the program existed. It was partially subsidized by the (apparently irresponsible) German government. Nobody I know is going to buy a plane ticket, hotels and other expenses just to drive fast on a public highway.
You are reaching a bit. Here's exactly what I posted:
"My current car, one I hope to sell in the next few weeks, is a BMW 440 convertible. Back in 2017 when I bought it BMW still had a program for US buyers to take delivery in Germany, drive around a few days or weeks, and then let them ship...
Take the black on the hood a few inches wider to the next character line (or leave the hood the way you show it) and then carry that width for the length of the roof instead of making the whole thing black.
If it were mine I'd not change it at all.
Yes, I've done some BMW and other high performance driving classes but the only track experience was open wheel. Most if not all tracks don't allow convertibles, even my retractable hard top 4 series. The BMW club won't even allow it in autocross events.
I said no such thing.
...and I never mentioned alcohol.
...and yes, of course all German drivers are superior to anyone from the US.
Drive faster, read slower.
