  1. Official: S650 Mustang Debuts September 14 at Detroit Auto Show 2022!

actually weight savings is something they can actually do here. There are many elements of the s550 that can be slimmer down. It’s not very optimized. The engines may be carryover at first, but this isn’t the first time. In 1994, they did that as well - and that’s a close analogy - the Fox...
  2. Ford announces 7th Gen Mustang S650 with teaser sound clip! 🔊

Sounds low on oil. Otherwise similar to typical coyote audio.
  3. Ford announces 7th Gen Mustang S650 with teaser sound clip! 🔊

True. The Voodoo and Predator 5.2s were based on the coyote as well.
  4. Motortrend's Turn at 2024 Mustang GT (S650) Rendering

true, but I think the retro style was the right move at that time. The market was ripe for it. Not so much today. A modern design with the defining pony car elements youdescribe are likely the order of the day in 2024. styles are funny like that. Whether it cars, clothing, music, graphic...
  5. Motortrend's Turn at 2024 Mustang GT (S650) Rendering

I think that is because a facelift for an already established design rarely goes well. The s550 was designed to look the way it did from the gate. When the art team went to change the front and rear fascia and lights to try to keep thinks fresh, they went for angles while the reminder of the...
  6. Motortrend's Turn at 2024 Mustang GT (S650) Rendering

the front end is similar in all renders as you said due to leaks, but likely also some not so public leaks as well. the rest looks like s550 due to extrapolations from hardpoints and guessing past the camo. the “functional” side scoops are there because you can see that through the camo. mid...
  7. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

It may be in the dreams of those pushing it, but not in the hearts of customers. to your average people, American and foreign, it's just another electric SUV. Try telling the german Mustang fans that the Mach E is a Mustang and they nearly cry. Ford clearly has an agenda. But it's not one that...
  8. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

Reality is that Ford is doing the bare minimum and trying to pass it off as a new generation. It's not unrealistic for Ford to actually invest in their halo car even if it doesn't sell as much as an F-150. It's about enthusiasm for the brand. Everyone knows how the halo effect works. But you...
  9. 6/1/22 unveil for S650 Mustang or something else?

    1. you might be an exception for your choice of eco boost if that’s really why it went down, but generally, the reason people downgrade from the GT is for economic reasons. 2. in his defense, not everyone cares about being “woke” or “PC” as it often doesn’t reflect the real world. And it seems...
  10. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

that point is the point of any business. My point was that something gets either a) relegated to also ran status or b) gets cancelled if it does not succeed - such as was nearly the case in 2004. maiming low guarantees you never land high. You get out of a business or product what you put into...
  11. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

you completely missed the point. The Mustang is not currently a liability. But it’s being treated as if that’s inevitable. It’s not. A product is like a garden. You get out of it what you put into it. Give it just enough to survive and that’s what it will do. But cultivate it and tend it like a...
  12. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

man all new platform would solve many issues, from sight (and thusMPG) performance and handling, free acelleration benefits, aero, and setting the car up for the future. AWD, hybrid structures built in, etc. these don’t need to be “saved” in order to make electric look better waits a false...
  13. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

MYbe Mustang is more than that. It appeal to people who don’t want aFord yet they want a mustang. It’s an icon. All Ford has to do is honor what they said they’d do and stop dragging out an ancient platform every time. Sure it’s serviceable, but it’s high time they kept their word and went for it.
  14. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

only when those changing the landscape cause that to happen. Especially considering that’s the line we’ve been fed since the Fox-4, always with a promise that a true all-in new platform was forthcoming - only to never happen. And now we get the lie again customers aren’t asking for an aging...
  15. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

The render really does look like a refreshed 2015 and current Mach 1 combined. Not digging that at all. not truly a new platform, so the bones are the same. Hopefully they have time to change up the sheet metal and TRY to look diffeeent enough to call it a 650. I mean, come on. This is THE...
  16. New S650 Mustang render from Road & Track

as the 2018 s550 was to the 2015, so this is to the 2018. just a facelifted s550, but a back to the future theme. actually looks like a redone 2015. This is getting into letdown territory. Hopefully it’s likely wrong.
  17. New S650 Mustang test prototype shots from Frisco Colorado sighting (June 15, 2022) - Updated With Video

and that’s kind of the problem isn’t it? Instead of upgrading the mustang to be even better and chasing cars out of its league, ford has a history of resting in its behind when there is no Camaro. Last time this happened, a v6 Hyundai Genesis (before genesis was its own brand) and Nissan v6 z...
  18. New S650 Mustang test prototype shots from Frisco Colorado sighting (June 15, 2022) - Updated With Video

The more I see, the more it looks a whole lot like an s550 and in another leak, even s197. I would hope they aren’t out of ideas so badly as to go back s gen or two. Hopefully some of the leaks are not representative and the camo is responsible for s550 similarities. so far, I’m afraid it looks...
  19. New S650 Mustang test prototype shots from Frisco Colorado sighting (June 15, 2022) - Updated With Video

From the bottom of the front, yes. But the top of the front end is about where the s550 is, just heavily tapered to try to hide it. It’s a bit thicker looking at it head on, but will still be a win if it translates to better aero. Of course, the possibility exists that it only appears that way...
