Warning, if you make the front suspension too stiff you're going to end up with worse traction in the rear than you would have had stock. Also I strongly recommend drag radials.

Steeda's car only made 450whp with headers and E30, not sure if they had slicks on it though - that would suck some power. They also had some lightweight wheels/driveshaft so it seems like it should have made more but I'm not sure what gear they were in either.

Once you get to the 7's the majority of the cars are turbo or centrifugal. Easier to get them to hook and run down the track. All of the fast GT-R's, Lambos, etc all run turbos as well.
Sure, top fuel runs superchargers but that's apples and oranges.
