  1. Usage based insurance

Long-term, I don't see the appeal of these policies. While a driver might get in at a lower price point, they will continue to deal with the same issues we all do. Went on a long trip and drove 5 mph over for 20+% of the time? Ooops. You lose your discount. Ticket or accident? Boof. You're...
  2. Discounts dark horse and GT cars on ground all over

Specific to your deal, I'd leave well enough alone. Given the car, price, discount and experience, reads like you did good to great. Everyone is happy and things are progressing as expected.
  3. Mustang Purchase Pricing

For any deal you do negotiate, I would confirm with the salesperson you will not be accepting any add-ons, in writing. No warranties, tint, ceramic coating, nitrogen in the tires, etc., unless you want those as part of the sale. If you're not doing so already, secure the final price with a...
  4. Supply Chain Constraints or Not?

Ford will not ship HP-type cars during the Winter months, as the tires can develop problems once temperatures become too cold for those compounds. Is Ford selling that many HP cars? That by removing some HP options, they markedly improve their fleet MPG calculations? Ford produced 2M vehicles...
  5. New 2024 GT Performance Question

If someone can cite a source, I'd like to read or listen to it. I'm not aware of any limitations. Ford does have a general recommended break-in period of 1000 mi / 1600 kms, but no physical or electronic* limits. You can use the Search feature in the upper-right corner to look for similar...
  6. Sitting in Production for two weeks, should I be worried?

I'd not be concerned. The line is only operational for several days of the month. When a car enters the line, it won't necessarily exit and be completed that day or week. Additionally, we're in Holiday mode. People taking vacation, things are slow, etc. Finally, the Tracker is not 100%...
  7. Extended Warranties?

Ya, I noticed that with my '22. Popping the hoods of the respective vehicles (2022 Ford vs. 2008 Toyota), the differences in item density and component complexity is something to give one pause. Good news is, if you don't get a good price from the selling dealer at pick-up, you can pass and...
  8. Software Update Mechanism?

Ya, I caught myself and deleted my previous post. I forgot about Sync 4. I've Googled around and have yet to find anything to do with USB sticks, Sync 4 and the S650. My finds do reference Wi-Fi and Cell, as @Lightningwings mentioned above. But update the S650 Sync via USB? Haven't seen that yet.
  9. Software Update Mechanism?

I'd study two topics: 1) Ford Telematics and 2) How to default Sync back to factory. Ford Telematics records various details about your driving. This information is uploaded to Ford via the car's internal cell transmitter. If you don't want Ford to have these details (whatever they all are), in...
  10. Extended Warranties?

I'll update my post, but in your situation, I was wrong. I forget that, in the state of FL (and CA), you have to be licensed in the state to sell these policies. Granger is not licensed to sell Ford ESP in FL. While you will not be able to buy from Granger, you can shop around other Ford...
  11. Extended Warranties?

https://grangerfordextendedwarranty.com/ https://fordprotect.ford.com/extended-service-plan A Ford ESP plan would be best. While 3rd party plans are available, there are a lot of grey areas and legalese; a Ford plan eliminates virtually all that. Granger Ford * offers the best price, period...
  12. Ford employee leaves note in Dark Horse glovebox for future owner

I would've loved to have found one. But unless someone left an Easter Egg in a body panel or something, no. The article makes me want to continue to double-check every nook and cranny each time I'm in the car.
  13. Recommended Octane Rating & Why

I prefer Shell and purchase the highest octane I can get. I want the maximum out of the engine and car. 87 is Ford's minimum, the floor to help prevent any long-term issues with an engine and its high compression ratios. https://www.toptiergas.com/gasoline-brands/ While I have a brand...
  14. Posting Problems Still Not Corrected

For me, desktop browser. Macbook with Chrome. FWIW, as it happens from now on, I'll get you some dates and times, so as to correlate.
  15. Posting Problems Still Not Corrected

Occasionally, the site/server/app seems strained. I post something, wait and nothing displays. I learned to first post as always. If not seen in a reasonable time, I then click the "forums" tab. I could tell by the icons my post was there. The hesitation, when it is occurring, I do not see...
  16. S650 production ending in 2028 - according to new union contract

Maybe it has to do with being in the great state of Colorado *, but I've not witnessed anything negative with EVs during Winter. YMMV. Safety. Occasionally during the Winter, I will encounter temperatures as cold as -10F / -23C. I routinely leave my cell phone in my truck. People leave their...
  17. Dark Horse WRECKED in transit!!!!

Touch'e. I tip my hat to you Sir. Doesn't seem right, but yes, it is part of the overall design to vent. https://dealer.parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/electrical/other-lighting-parts/headlight-housing-vent-valve-front-p-am5z13c126a Edit: the vents are there to help with changes in air pressure...
  18. Dark Horse WRECKED in transit!!!!

Regarding the comments of the headlights, I'd consider getting the issue evaluated and documented. They should maintain a good seal and should not have moisture inside. The lens assemblies are not cheap. Nice to get them replaced for free under warranty.
  19. Dark Horse WRECKED in transit!!!!

Sorry about what happened. My initial read of the damage described does not concern me too much. It's a special car you've been waiting for. I can empathize with that. I'm more bothered by two things: 1) the dealer wasn't up-front about what happened, how the car was received, when the car was...
  20. Dark horse still unscheduled.

It seems you're dealing with two issues: 1. An allocation. If the dealer was unable to secure an allocation from April to late October, I'd begin looking towards other dealers. Houston is the third or fourth largest city in the nation and a huge market. Maybe another dealer. If not Houston, San...
