I just finished installing front & rear rock guards on my 2024 Dark Horse. Thought I’d share lessons learned.
1. Kit comes with everything except replacement push pins. So be careful removing stock ones or have some extras on hand. 2 different sizes for the front.
2. DH has moulded front wheel...
Young at heart, I’m on of those 3 guys like you. These are great times for motor heads like us. All the speed, handling, braking & horsepower & we can get 20+ mpg on the highway. I don’t disagree at all with your analysis of the Pirellis. They are sticky & give great traction. Can’t really go...
I have 305/35/20 rear. Speedo off 3 mph at 25-30 mph. Off 4-5 mph at 55-65. Speedo reads slower than GPS. Speedcams & “strictly observed” zones definitely an issue.
PS.
My Michelin OSHA A/S 4 305/35/20 tire is 1.9” taller than stock. My speedometer runs 3 mph slower than GPS speed.
The 305/30/20 is only 1/2” taller, so speedometer error would be less.
I’m no expert on suspension/springs. There are more knowledgeable people on this forum. However, I just changed wheels/tires on my DH HP & will share what I learned.
1. You stated wheels but gave tire sizes. To go to the HP tires, I’m pretty sure you will need to change wheels. I don’t know...
I looked closer at the rims. The fronts have 1-1.5” more metal on the mounting surface that mates to the car’s wheel. That takes up the extra stud length that protrudes through the rim holes. The rear’s mounting surface does not. I did not realize that they make the front rims differently from...
I looked at putting Michelins on my stock HP wheels (19x10.5”, 19x11”) and if I remember correctly, those tires were way outside the fenders. Check carefully.
Another consideration. You didn’t mention which tire brand you are switching to. Makes a difference. Example: Michelin Pilot Sports have a straighter side wall than the Pirelli Trofeo’s, resulting in more tread width with a “smaller” Michelin tire. If you’re not careful, you may end up with a...
Just installed Ferrada CM2 wheels - 20x10” +28mm front, 20x11” +50 mm rear with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 285/35ZR20 front & 305/35ZR20 rear. Nice fit. No rubs. Very nice ride quality. Haven’t checked speedometer yet. I expect some difference since rear tires are 1.9” taller. Had...
