I understand. I've just never been afraid of getting the appropriate manuals and tools and going for it. Of course I do have a pretty extensive set of tools and a deep understanding of what is going on in most engines. Background knowledge is very valuable in learning new procedures.
Guess I'm...
Yes, forced induction with a 12:1 engine does create blow by. The vapor separating catch cans definitely assist in stopping oil from building up in your intake system.
The intermittent cylinder killing of the ignition at the rev limit induces a high frequency oscillation, the harmonics of the frequency induced cause the cyclic loading to multiply, resulting in possible failures, especially with a repeated occurrence.
I'm a long time horsepower junkie. I'm having a Whipple installed on my '25 DH right now. I see the billet OPGs and timing sprocket as insurance. The only time they really make a difference is if you really push the revs to the rev limiter under boost. This induces harmonics in the engine that...
My tuner is installing a Whipple on my '25 DH. I'm going with the twin electric fans and the Bosch high flow coolant pump for the Whipple heat exchanger. He said that he sees very little difference in the intake charge temp with a thermostat change. I see this as insurance.
Whipple Superchargers offers a 3-year/36,000-mile limited powertrain warranty on select new, dealer-installed Stage 1 supercharger kits for Ford vehicles. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, often covering the engine and transmission if installed by an authorized installer.
My bad. He's on a stage 2 and has a small blower pulley that's a 10 rib. He has gobs of other mods on the car. Significant lightening (carbon fiber wheels, drive shaft, and half shafts).
My first choice: Mobil One filters, number 2, Motorcraft Filters. Look at the Beta ratings on filters, they can be tricky to understand so I suggest you dig into it. There are some very decent articles out there. Some manufacturers, I believe, are purposely secretive about their Beta numbers...
I drove a '68 'stang with a 289 4V 4 speed top loader in Chicago Loop traffic several times in the 1980 era. Complete pain in the butt. I'd find myself in gridlock and I'm amazed I didn't kill the throw out bearing. I tend to get anxious in super thick traffic and caught myself clutching and...
Dial shifters were done as space savers on later model Fusions. Could easily be true on specific Explorers and the big DCT in the GT500. My 2010 Fusion Sport has a stick in a his and hers type configuration. I still use it as my daily driver, I basically bought a bunch of Steeda parts for it...
I'd been keeping my eyes open for a very likely collectable Mustang since I sold my '82 GT that had been very heavily modded back in 1990. That old GT was loaded, t-tops, narrowed 9 inch, 3.91 gears Detroit locker, T-5, pro built 343 small block with a set of aluminum heads, Holley 750 DP...
Has anyone had any experiences to share with the "German Graphine" spray coatings being advertised more and more lately? I'm curious but would like to know if the stuff really works or is yet another scam.
I'm up very soon on my '25 DH! Whipple stage 1 (for warranty), Lethal double H, "Stop the Hop" kit, and billet oil pump gears for insurance. I'm doing a double oil vapor catch can with the install. Stage 2, headers, and high flow cats after the warranty expires.
