Thanks! That makes much more sense. When I sign into the X-plan website, it gives me the X-plan prices for any of the current cars, so I would think it would be a flat fee as well. I wonder if it varies by the cost of the car? I hope the convertible isn't much more than $676. On the other...
So I inquired about the Advertisement Assessment fee and fuel charge that people have been adding into invoice prices from Ford, and I got this response:
I'm still confused as to why people on this forum have been saying the Advertisement Assessment fee is different at every dealer? I assume...
It doesn't matter what car you get, the PIN is good for purchasing one Ford or Lincoln product. I think they just ask you what you're interested in so they can send you promotional stuff. They may even share your info with a local dealer...who knows.
The PIN follows the person, not the car. You...
X-plan is always available for those who are qualified. Once you get your PIN, it is good for 1-year, then you'll have to re-apply for a new PIN if you let it expire.
Why go against it? You still pay your taxes on the car when you go to get plates, so states don't lose out on anything...I could see dealers not liking this option :-) heck, even if I have to pay D&D I'd still think it would be cool to tour the plant and watch my car be built, then take it home...
How did you do that? That's something Ford charges for delivery to the dealer (which isn't a bad price, considering if you're in California or even Hawaii/Alaska that is a long trip!), and the whole point of X-plan is no negotiations....
Is there any option at all to buy direct from Ford at all? Didn't know if anyone has ever done that...should save $825 on destination! :D
I was just curious...thought it would be kind of cool to pick it up from the factory the day it was built, maybe even get a factory tour...then drive down...
What dicks! Yeah I always have the dealers remove (or don't put it on to begin with) their stupid decals they stick on the cars. I am paying a lot of money for a car, I'm not offering free advertising. I got my Fusion from a dealer trade since my dealer didn't have the one I wanted. Why didn't...
Yeah third party lease would be different. I've never done that (I think my old local credit union had lease specials, and I bet you're right they would want you to at least return the car to them). I would think they don't care if you drive it out of state, as long as you don't move out of...
You can use X-plan on a lease. I believe you just use the X/plan price to base the lease payment off of. Also, depending on what you're buying, lease payments can be several hundred dollars less than a 72 or 60 month loan. It still is better to buy a used car though, financially speaking.
This is misleading. Lease isn't all that bad, plus you're wrong about not building credit...leases still show up on your credit report. You can move to another state, your sales tax will just change with it.
Here are some sites I found for Ford ESPs:

http://www.floodfordesp.com/
http://www.fordwarrantys.com/
http://www.troy-ford-extended-warranty.com/
The point is, there's an MSRP for all Ford warranties, and just like the...
Oh and don't let them try to force you into any of their aftermarket crap. Every dealer I've been to always has something. I used to work at a dealer as a lot attendant in high school and they would randomly put pin stripes, tint windows, etc on cars in their lots and charge stupid prices for it...
Despite what the dealer might tell you, extended warranty won't cost any more if you buy it later (and separate) from Ford, as long as their rates don't go up and you get it before the 3 year 36k warranty is up.
EDIT: I just read on another forum that the price can go up by about $100 after the...
Ford sells their extended warranties at set prices based on the car and the coverage. If the dealer was like the one I bought my fusion from, they'll try and sell you an aftermarket warranty with a huge markup. I didn't know better and got the one they offered, but a few months later realized...
X-plan general formula is:
X-plan = Invoice - (0.004*Invoice)+275 admin fee
Based on what we've learned recently on prices, my speced out GT convertible would be $47,699 invoice which makes X-plan $47,783. This is using the estimated GT Prem Convertible invoice of $41,012 (based on Canadian...
