Curious, what are you guys doing inside your cars that you need to have an air freshener hanging from your mirror? I can understand if youāre a NYC cab driver or your cars interior was underwater and all mildewed.
How about if the line does eventually grind to halt and has to be picked back up weeks or months later. Most of the line has computers to tell when the specific job is done, but who's going to catch the couple of bolts that were only partially screwed down and won't be noticed until a few miles...
Congrats on a beautiful vert, but why wouldn't you say no to pressure from your dealer on the EW to save hundreds? When I walk into the F & I department the first words out of my mouth is NO! No paint sealant, no to interior sealant, no to nitrogen fill. Just no to any other over priced add on...
I could be wrong, but I donāt think that Ford would use the same transmission in a V8 Mustang as they use in a 4 cylinder Bronco. The Mustang transmission is an MT86 and this transmission is an MT88 Or so it states in the link.
Iād gladly take a SS button over a cylinder cutoff on my Jeep. Exhaust sounds like crap when it cuts off and the only way to prevent it is to put the trans into manual mode, which I sometimes forget to take it out of at a light, then the light turns green and itās instant redline while I panic...
I have read quite a few reports that complain about the MT86, that is precisely why I wanted input from this group on the feasibility of the Tremec transplant. My fingers are still crossed that it will be better in the S650 than it was in the previous models.
You are correct and my Jeep was the first time I ever bought an EW. The 392 motor has a weak spot with the multi displacement system that can eat up cams and lifters. Replacing the engine is about a 5k affair and the warranty was under 2k for 8 years. Between the possible better resale value and...
That really sucks and I feel your pain. Glad you're ok and hope you regain your power soon.
I lived on a farm in NW NJ when Sandy came through and I had 8 big oaks and 5 50' pine trees come down across my driveway which also took out a power pole. No power for two weeks, thank God for a whole...
I purchased an 8 year extended factory warranty on my 392 Wrangler using an out of state address of a friend. After it was issued, I changed it to my Florida address. The Michigan dealership I bought the policy from didnāt have an issue with it and was very helpful in making the changes.
Supposedly the MT86 has been āimprovedā from previous years so Iāll keep my fingers crossed that Ford did the right thing and listened to its customers complaints about it. I guess not pending a strike at the plant, Iāll find out how good or bad it is in a couple of months.
I think I read somewhere that the convertible is 200 lbs heavier than the fastback, please correct me if I have that wrong. With the extra weight in mind, I ordered my vert with the PP and Magnaride to hopefully counter some of the extra weightās handling issues.
True, there isnāt a lot of difference in the ultimate performance between the GT and the DH, but the driving experience in the heavier convertible might be better with the closer ratios of the Tremec. I just wish Ford offered it as an option. Who knows, it might have been another profit point...
Thanks, All good points, especially your last one.
I guess I was looking to see if anyone here had made the swap and if so, was it worth the time, money and effort. Iām starting to believe that it probably isnāt for the small gain unless when I finally get to drive my car I really hate the...
Thanks for the link.
Interesting that they would make that transmission a proprietary piece, if that is the case that would definitely make a swap more difficult unless like you say find a crashed Dark Horse to salvage one from. In my youth I might have looked on this as a challenge, but today...
