I don`t think the MT-82 is really the deal breaker for a lot of people buying manual. They usually just buy the MT-82 without knowing or caring about problems. Or they go with the auto.
People on car forums and small car communities are in the minority with being knowledgeable.
obviously everyone knows electric cars can produce crazy performance numbers. And numbers are awesome for marketing and creating hype.
My biggest fear with everything going electric is lack of diversity with "motor" configuration.
I love how each car manufacturer offers something different...
I think you underestimate how many people do not care about the V8 engine. Most mustangs, camaros, challengers and F-150s are sold with 4 or 6 cylinders. And eventually electric motors.
So if you think this will be a demand related thing, then the V8 is going to die.
It all has to do with the testing environment. where a 3.5L V6 sitting at idle emits less emissions than a 3.5L V8. But we all know that most V8 engines are much larger than 6 and 4 cylinder engines. Just look at the window sticker of a 5.0L mustang and a 4 cylinder under the emission sections...
out of curiosity what do you see happening then? the V8 just sticks around forever? Well forever in the USA because its obviously not sticking around in Europe or anywhere else for that matter.
I think it goes further than if there is demand for camaro. Its government emission and fuel economy standards that are killing the V8, not lack of demand. Just look at the sales number for V8 power performance cars. Even the European car brands have high demand for V8.
The ideal transition...
You are totally correct about them sounding sterile compared to older engines. But compared to most things on the market today they do sound the best (besides certain exotic cars).
Years ago I had a cammed 2010 Camaro LS3 with electric cutouts right after the headers, I do miss the sound of a...
fun fact about the Jaguar F-type.
Jag recently made a update to there software where the car no longer pops and bangs. You can no longer start the car in dynamic model (exhaust valves open) either. Even if you own a older model the dealership will update your car when you go in for service to...
I have always thought the Coyote sounded better than the Voodoo also.
There are certain exotic cars that still sound good like Lamborghini. But most of them are muted and only sound decent inside the cabin. Pretty much anything from Europe that has a turbo is muted. The OPF filter and Turbo...
The current 5.0L V8 is already a swan song you just don`t realize it yet. It sounds better than most cars on the market right now. Even some of those high end exotics starting to sound terrible like the current turbo Ferrari engines that are muted due to EU regulations.
You also have no idea...
As someone in his 30s I grew up driving gas sports cars. It started with Japanese sports cars then moved into American V8 performance cars. So for me it just doesn't feel right to not have a V8 engine. The sound and feeling of the V8 is half the fun. Anything can be fast but it must also sound...
Well I didn't say we will run out of oil in 50-100 years. Just saying that the world will probably move to electric by then. In 50-100 years I would assume electric battery cars are so unbelievably efficient and cheap that it doesn't even make sense to own a gas car.
Either way my personal...
Your right to a degree. Like I said we do not have a unlimited supply of fossil fuel. Eventually the world won`t have a choice. Sure it might take 50-100 years to get there.
