I have about 1,600 miles (no oil change) on my engine and it is noisy. There is a click that seems to occur once an engine revolution. For those who date themselves, it matches the old engine driven fuel pump that was driven directly off the crank shaft. I assume that is the high pressure fuel...
There is a sensor that detects the position of the cam shaft. It's part of the variable valve timing system and if it fails, it would be a good reason for the car to go in limp mode. Probably the solution will be to replace the sensor and it shouldn't be a big deal.
No lift shifting is a manual feature. On an automatic, it's a part of the way they are constructed and normally operate. It should be on all cars with a manual transmission and unneeded with an auto.
The different sound is the active exhaust. I have just been playing with it and I noticed that in regular mode, 6 gear is pretty muted. In sports mode, you can hear the exhaust. The change in back pressure might have a very small effect on milage at low throttle setting but probably not enough...
We have a body shop in our complex and one of the services they offer is frame straightening. If a crash was violent up to a point, they can pull the frame back to square. There are references points and if they don't line up, the frame is out of square. If it was a side swipe, it's not likely...
Had a headache last night so I wasn't firing on all 8 but there is a second way the FOB might function. The car could broadcast are you there? When the FOB hears it, it responds yes I am. If the FOB only responds when it hears it' id being called and it responds with a different ID. It would be...
I don't recommend you erase the code unless you understand exactly what it is. There are bad codes that could result in destroying your catalytic converter or could result in engine damage. If you erase it, the dealer will be unable to read it. I am not sure on newer cars but older cars stored...
That antenna probably receives just about everything. You have AM, FM, Satellite radio, WiFi and Cell phone. Talk about a car being connected to the world!
Our deer are a little smarter. They stay in the high country were there is plenty of food and water, it doesn't get nearly so hot and it's miles away from my car. Maybe they know that my dad and brother hunted their relatives so it might not be a good idea to chance a meeting with me.
The computer has determined, probably incorrectly that engine damage will occur if you push the engine hard so it has placed the car in limp mode. It will not allow you to push the engine until the problem is corrected. Check engine lights come on for many reasons and I have seen a few as the...
There is a very good reason for motion detection in the key fob. They communicate with something like Bluetooth and while the transmitter power is only somewhere around 2 milliwatt, that is enough to run the battery down pretty quick. Accelerometers are now small solid state devices and you only...
For you to consider. Maybe the dealer will take your new car on trade for what you want. Yes you will take a hit but you won't know how bad until you run the numbers. It doesn't hurt to ask and maybe it might make you happy.
I have just gone through 5 pages of this thread and mostly it's an argument over engines. There are three things that go into a great car. The engine, the suspension and the tires. My 82GT was advanced for the time and it didn't cross into the 200 horse power range. The secret was the suspension...
I started working with a dealer close to my home because the salesman was a relative of our employee. He couldn't sell me a 2023 because the order books were closed and when they briefly opened, he didn't get me in. When the order books opened for the 2024 they only had two dark horse...
A 16.4 gallon tank would make sense. My 96 is 15.4 so they added a gallon to the tank size. They probably left the .4 as reserve to help prevent you from sucking air with the fuel pump. The miles remaining calculation probably removes the .4 before determining the remaining miles.
That .4 could...
The ride could be a bit better with 18 inch wheels and you will reduce the risk of cutting a tire on a pot hole. Fast corners might not be as firm with 18 inch and they don't look as cool.
I have reduced the risk of cutting by running 4 extra pounds in the tire but at the cost of a rougher ride.
I don't play with modes but my first tank of gas was the worst at 14miles/gal. Now I am falling between 17 and 19. The first was getting used to the feel of the gas peddle and getting comfortable with the car. Normally I shift around 2,000 rpm and go easy on the gas. More freeway driving would...
You could buy the fob and it might even work except for that button. The ability to remote start is most likely disabled in the car software. Remember that it doesn't work with the manual transmission either. It could be something set in the hardware so the software doesn't allow it or it could...
I agree with patching. I have had several tires that have been patch and they never gave me a problem. Fortunately the tires people I deal with have never attempted to have the tire plugged.
A company called Tomcat make rodent bait system that you should investigate. Rats moved into our yard and ate the wiring in one of or tenants trucks. As we have 30 acres, we are starting with 10 bait traps and may add to that. For us it's a double risk. We are located next to the Salt River and...
