Put it on a lift and "target spray" some GT85 liberally where you think a squeak could possibly come from and I bet you kill the squeak by the next day without making a mess. That's some good shit on stuff like that. Something has probably dried out or corroded just enough to drive you nuts...

Checking your oil when cold is not a bad thing. If nothing else, it will tell you how much oil is "leaving" the engine by one means or another, (burning, leaking, etc.) over some period of time. Just do it on the same a flat surface every time. It's just another index. Not the best one to...

Logic tells me that the best time might be 20 to 25 minutes after turning hot engine off. The oil drains down and is the same temp. as when it was running, which is the temp. and amount of oil it has to work with when running. Oil expands when hot.

I used to live in Keller. I know the whole area. Dallas itself was my least favorite for reasons you know all too well. I was happy to leave the whole place behind.
