you've never seen an AR15 with a metal hand guard/rail?
Quickly flowing air across metal that isn't all that hot (how much hotter than ambient do you think an intake pipe is anyway?) isn't going to increase the temperature of the air by much. It's simple physics, at least you're right about...
Intake tubes are made of plastic (I realize this one is silicone) because you can shape them however you want, unlike metal. But metal is used for intercooler piping etc which sits in the engine bay as well.
How long do you think it's in that tube?
Exactly. If people are dumb enough to spend...
plastic will get just as hot. Throttle bodies (of which there are two) are metal.
plus aluminum loses heat really quickly unlike steel or cast iron. You can handle a cookie sheet within a couple minutes from being in a hot oven with bare hands.
besides, the air isn't in that tube long enough...
I cover it because I can't keep the door closed all the or get the garage clean enough.
Clean the garage very very well and seal up any place air/dirt can get in.
You can do 275's front and 305's back if you really want. Probably best to just stay at the factory sizes though

Pretty much brings things back down to the old MT-82 ratios
First two are 3.55, last one is 4.09
It does lower your 4th (1:1) gear top speed from 160 to 140 though. the 3-4 is going to kind of suck like it did with the old wide ratio t56
Would like to hear from supercharged S550 owners if...
Brenspeed went 9.9 @ 141
