@Eli GT ..... I always check my oil when it is hot. I let it drain down for 10-15 minutes, any longer won't yield much difference. Agreed - I don't trust original factory fills, dealer PDI or service departments to provide the correct oil level. I always check.
@25Raptor. IF and I say IF you are considering asking your dealer to keep your "jailbird" then you may want to ask them about ordering a 2025 as I think until the end of September all 2025 Mustang orders include most if not all of the options at N/C. You will still have to pay shipping, PDI and...
@robvas ..... agree - your oil doesn't gain acidity magically at 365 days. A study from Shell Oil showed every brand of oil tested showed varied degrees of acidity by 1000 KM, more if it was driven short distances that did not allow for contaminants, acids and water vapor to be burned -off. A...
@sarahestelle ..... respectfully I do not agree. I would never leave oil in an engine for two years - particularly if there were low miles on it - as there will likely be a considerable build-up of acids, contaminants and water vapor. Even if I only put 4K miles on it a year I would at least...
@gtstang462002 I basically agree as with most vehicles using the engine oil change monitor is probably fine. I'm a bit more OCD with my Coyote at 12:1 compression and driving it in a spirited manner a few times. So - I err on the side of caution as IMO using Full synthetic and oil filter...
@Frogdog1 ..... if your intake is reading close to ambient temperature that is very good! The snorkels that lead from each air box to the front of the grille bring in the coolest air possible - air that is hitting the grille as you drive. The alternative used to be air that entered the engine...
@A_Z .... yes I agree and I believe they use the "standard" oil their dealers provide which is Ford Semi Synthetic 5W-30. I know this because I got my first three oil changes "free" as part of a dealer purchase package but the oil is NOT full synthetic, because Ford considers semi synthetic...
The type of oil (semi or full synthetic) has nothing to do with the logarithm. It is time and mileage based. That said there have been some interesting arguments - particularly with third party warranty companies like Lubrico - when a customer doesn't put the mileage on but shows an oil change...
Tests of 0 weight oils show they do not protect nearly as well as 5 weight in high temperature internal conditions. I tried 0W-30 Full synthetic ONE time in my 2024 GT for winter storage as I start it every three or four weeks and run it. The engine "noise" is considerably more pronounced with 0...
@GTSteve ..... great work. I particularly like that you matched the grain of the dash. The "grain" of the dash was a specific pattern researched by Ford to break-up any reflective light patterns that would reflect onto the windshield like about 80% of other vehicles. You may have noticed that...
@Vapor ..... you are probably in the 1% club that actually know how to use a pressure washer. The rest damage trim (painted plastic) and drive water into body cavities.
@Starship Enterprise ..... 100% correct. Decades ago, my family built a set super expensive HP marine racing engines for a client as they started to get into marine. We wanted to sell him our automatic oil removal oil system. We told him , we will remove the oil pan drain plugs, install a cross...
@AZ_Ryan ....... do I hear the song "feelings" playing in the background? That's pretty thin AZ. I agree you can hear a different sound with some of the aftermarket filters but can you feel that at the pedal? "Feelings" keeps playing. Just sayin' ..... Do agree that no one can notice a 6HP...
Body shops love owners who pressure wash their cars - kills paint jobs - drives water vapor right through clear coat, paint and primer. My local paint booth spray god said we should give pressure washers away with every new car as 99% of the idiots will ruin their cars, boats, house siding and...
@Junkyard Dog ..... that would be correct. There isn't enough of a change to notice that. We ran dyno tests on switchable exhausts connected to CMI headers to account for various no wake zone decibel readings and there were not measurable differenced between the final selections.
@Eli GT ..... agree 100% with all you say and I repeat - if you want 5W-30 FULL synthetic you will almost certainly have to purchase in bottle/jug format to give to the tech. IMO that is the only way to guarantee you get 5W-30 FULL synthetic.
@Frogdog1 ..... you can bet your Mustang that temperature makes a huge difference, humidity does too but not as much as temperature. Altitude makes a huge difference. When we were building high performance marine engines for owners who boated in higher altitudes we would have to re-gear their...
