Did you have the inner wheel wells removed? if you have not, most likely what you are not seeing are the stones wedged in at the front two braces as well as the fender and the chassis.

This clearly shows that the brace didn’t exist on the 550 or the bottom protection, the opening looks very similar. It looks to me like the addition of the brace and the bottom protection is what making this opening much more of a problem
