Got it. I'm pushing 77 and started with a '56 Chevy in 1965... a lot of cars since then.
I considered leasing a new Mustang but didn't see anything I wanted. This one was about $8,000 less than a new one and had only 2500 miles.
I've had many new cars over the years and can count on one hand how many times I relied on the warranty for an issue with the car. I would think Carmax would know enough to check if the carbon traps have been removed. I agree, I just need to relax...easier said than done :(
Thank you for your kind words Bikeman. Would it be wise to have Carmax check out the carbon traps? I watched a video another member posted concerning the traps.
I don't know much history of the car, it was out there for only about eight months before coming to Carmax. Ford shows no service records before me and carfax shows near nothing.
Yikes, my head is spinning. I'm not a mechanical guy so this is Greek to me. When I bring the car in for a recall in two weeks would it be wise to have Ford do an inspection and put it back to OEM?
I talked with my service rep at the local Ford dealer, showed him the plaque, had him run the VIN, and he said he would not be afraid to keep the car. I've asked Carmax to contact the previous owner and ask what modifications were done. They claim they would not sell a car with modifications...
I'm working on that now. Went to Ford, and the car is under warranty until April 2027. Of course, they may not know of any modifications (if any) since the car has not been in for service.
